I want to use 2 pumps in series,Does it have to be identical pump?

well if it is a lower LPH it would kinda bring down the flow so yeah i would say try to find the same pump

Yes, in series, you should have identical pumps (you don't have to, but it doesn't make any sense). You can however, use different pumps in parallel. Why do you want to do this?

Series = 2x head
Parallel = 2x flow rate

Yeah Slade keep them the same...If you can use one larger pump you might be better off using it...Just depends on what they are...Your pump dumps heat in your loop to...So you have to keep that in mind when running two of them....Let us know what type you are thinking of using.....

in a series... yes, they should be an identical pump... but why would you want to? it's a fluid pump... you're not going to do much by lining them up...

why not run them in parallel, with check valves... so you have twice the flow until one dies... then you're back to normal

Definitely do not put two not identical pumps in series. The bigger of the two pumps will burn out the smaller pump. It would be pushing water into it harder than it can push out. Smaller pump will die after a bit.
