What are your best settings for BF3 when you only have 1GB of VRAM? -- What driver do you use?

tl;dr version:

What are your settings at 1GB VRAM; thats considered "stable" for you on Battlefield 3? Is it possible to have ULTRA textures and 4xMSAA with only 1GB ? I also hate how this 560Ti has so much juice in it but im bottlenecked by this stupid VRAM problem ):

Long version:

So ive been having multiple issues with NVidia drivers and Battlefield 3 since the first day i bought it. But unfortunately for me; i am completely in love with BF3 and i will do anything i can or learn anything i can to help fix/or ease my situation.

Ive had the whole range of problems with different drivers; that seemed to have their own unique set of problems/driver instability.

I have two MSI GTX 560Ti's currently at 1150mV, 1056MHz Core clock; 2050 Memory Clock ( found actually more stability dropping my memory clock with really no noticable effect to my FPS - originally at 2100 stock in MSI afterburner). They are being cooled with H60's with two Cougar 120mm Vortex in push/pull each radiator, i have copper heatsinks on the RAM modules, and i have a Noctua 80mm fan pointed right on top of my VRM's. (which has a stock aluminum heatsink that is screwed onto the PCB). My temps never go past 60C, in fact they usually stay around 51-55C .

I dont have any problems with other games EXCEPT Battlefield 3, i have a feeling this is just a game coding issue and the drivers that NVidia puts out are either hit or miss? I mean im using the latest driver right now (and it seems to be the most stable) -- but its not even a driver when BF3 was released? (wasnt it R285?)

I have tried ALL the drivers after 280.19 (beta), all the beta and WHQL and here are some examples i want to point out:

R285 drivers: Supposed to be BF3 drivers? But in fact i get horrible microstutter/fps drops and black screen lock up

R290 drivers: Still, black triangle artifacts everywhere; temps of video card stay under 60C, getting about 90-120 fps (im flying a jet in battlefield so the sky is a lot less textured -- but im still seeing these triangles) -- the Triangles seem to be coming from only specific objects (like the oil storage cylinders in Operation Firestorm)... would start flickering, triangles popping up from the ground to the sky... TDR'S EVERYWHERE

R295 drivers: Seem to sort of improve things, but im getting constant TDR, just being idle and having no overclock on (this is me just using facebook or doing homework)... and my screen would turn black and pop back to my desktop with the windows note saying "blah blah driver NVidia driver stopped responding but recovered..."... TDR's EVERYWHERE

R296 drivers: Kind of improving things, didnt see triangles until probably a couple days into using the drivers; but ironically this time... the triangles seem to be specific to ONLY to the center of your screen. As if theyre coming off the player models ? (Wow this is very distracting -- before... the triangles were just in the distance... now people look like theyre exploding triangles out of them LOL)

R301 drivers: TDR's AND TRIANGLES EVERYWEHERE

306.27 driver -- the one driver that is probably the most stable out of them all -- i have crashed in-game probably ONCE in a three week period with no problems yet....

306.97 driver - No triangles, BUT TDR'S EVERYWHERE

R310 drivers: This driver SUCKS, my game not only gets triangles; sometimes it looks like im tripping on acid; the colors invert to this weird grey/purple/pink -- green / blue.... oh god im flying in a jet in battlefield and it looks like i just entered a psychedelic trip or something, drivers will crash the game with the error : DEVICE HUNG .... something about Direct X 11 error .... textures of mountains in the distance would flicker

R313 driver: Direct X11 crashes, black screen lock ups, i probably used it for like a couple hours then went back to 306.23

314.07 driver: No more DirectX11 crashes, but getting some walls or objects in the distance flickering; occasional triangles

314.14 driver: So far so good.... only complaint is some objects flickering, or textures in the distance not being loaded; but everything pretty much close to me isnt flickering or acting weird and the experience is quite nice smile.gif I actually enjoy infantry a lot more because i dont see any more weird things. (i still love the jet no matter what, so flickering textures will be something i will just deal with)

I may have missed some other drivers but those were just the ones that popped up in my head after looking down the list of the drivers i downloaded.

My current settings that seem the most stable (on this 314.14 driver) with no crashes or FPS drops are:

Graphics Quality: CUSTOM
Texture Quality: ULTRA
Shadow Quality: HIGH
Effects Quality: MEDIUM
MESH QUALITY: HIGH
TERRAIN QUALITY: HIGH
TERRAIN DECORATION: LOW
ANTIALIASING DEFERRED: 4x MSAA
ANTIALIASING POST: MEDIUM (4x MSAA and HIGH looks too washed out)
MOTION BLUR: OFF
ANISOTROPIC FILTER: 16X
AMBIENT OCCLUSION: HBAO

I feel like when i change it from 2x MSAA to 4x MSAA i really notice the smoothness difference (am i just seeing things? or is this really happening? -- i think it looks better?) The Ultra textures also make a huge difference, i think im just really sensitive to texture qualities ?

I only have 1GB of VRAM, i hear people needing 1.5GB or 1.8GB of VRAM in certain maps... how does it work out when you dont have enough VRAM; does your FPS just drop? Is it normal for your drivers to start tripping out and show triangles all over the screen? I play Crysis 3 on higher settings than Battlefield and it plays at 30-40fps (as compared to the normal 60-70 i get on BF3) but i dont see any crazy triangles?

Ive really been trying to search around on google on why there are these damned "triangles" or why these drivers are so unstable with Battlefield .... i cant find a "complete" answer that will be okay for me. No one really knows what to do, people just tell you to reinstall your drivers or try something different its like im in this grey area and what am i supposed to do... wonder and not know??

It looks like my temps are all normal, and i still get these triangle artifacting even on stock clock, TDR's still happen... i feel like it doesnt really matter if i have my OC on or not. (i turn it on when i play)

Yes you will drop to very low fps when the card runs out of vram.

On a 560ti I have I can play on med-high no prob, but much more and the card runs out of vram.
I have no idea about the triangles you see, my card doesn't have any of that and it gets up to +80c.

How old is the card? Could the card be dying?

Its only a year old. And the triangles i see are just driver specific though. As soon as i change the driver, to say... 314.14 or 306.27... i dont see them at all. like these symptoms are driver specific. Sometimes the triangles are in the distance on some drivers, sometimes the triangles would be on coming out of player models, it depends on the driver. Sometimes ill just see flickering but no triangles (314.14) -- and this is ONLY a problem with Battlefield 3. Any other game i dont see triangles. I used to play Crysis 1 because BF3 drivers pissed me for a while... (then i got premium lol) so back to BF3....

Yeah i play high settings with no problem. I just am really sensitive when it comes to detail? i guess.... it bothers me. I like the ultra textures, they really make a difference when i play. Makes it feel more realistic.

I dont think its dying? Ive never overclocked them until i put them under water.
