Need Help in Motherboard-Processor wedding.

Hi everybody.
I am building a new budget rig. Usage:- Gaming and Music Recording. Facing a lot of "what do I do" dilemma--

A. Regarding Processor

(1) Core i5 3550
(2) Core i5 3470
(3) Core i5 3450
(4) AMD FX 8350
Keeping in mind the price/performance ratio which is worthy to grab? worriedsmiley.gif

B. Regarding Motherboard
If I choose Core i5 3550 (doesn't mean I am biased to it tongue.gif), can a ASUS P8H77-V (does mean I am biased to ASUS biggrin.gif ) perform well enough with its pal? worriedsmiley.gif I know a z77 will do better, but I will go that much only if it's necessary.

wave2.gif REST OF THE SPECS ARE

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB 1600 mHz X 2

Graphics card: Sapphire HD 7750 1GB GDDR5

HDD: WD Blue 1TB (Wish to add another 1 TB in future)

SSD: Kingston 32 GB

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 412 Slim

DVD Burner: LG GH24NS72

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 Combat with additional 4 fans.

Monitor: Dell IN2030M

Speakers: Altec Lansing MX6021

Keyboard: Logitech K200

Mouse: Belkin M100

Other Components: Roland Quad-Capture USB 2.0 Audio Interface.

PSU: (preferably SeaSonic. Wattage not yet decided))
UPS: (Preferably APC. Nothing yet decided)

HDD, SSD, CPU cooler, USB 2.0 Audio Interface have already taken their seats inside my rack.. Will use my old keyboard and mouse.

Regarding the PSU:  will you ever have more than one video card?  Are you always going to have a lower-level video card such as the 7750?

Can you order from Newegg.com?

I apologize that this is all I can help with today.

I don't think I will ever crossfire / SLI with another HD 7750. I will rather try to replace my 7750 with a better one in future. No plan to crossfire / SLI at that stage too.

I wish you complete your profile so my post makes sense.. all the cpus are OLD. if you are in the states. drop by the nearest microcenter. grab a 3570 for a 190USD and get 50$ off your motherboard. Just saw you are from india.

If not and these are available in where you live i would say take the 3550 and for the mother board the asus will do fine. yet you can pull off good stuff with the dh3 from gigabyte.

And for the PSU. if you are not going to throw any more stuff in there a 500W seasonic will do you justice.

Then any quality-made 400-450W power supply is more than enough here - even if you had a 7970.

Can you link some stores you can order from?  If they aren't in English, then I'd need it to be linked directly to the power supplies.  I will also need to know your budget.

- 3570k. FX is a joke, even heavily multi-threaded applications are IPC first, multithreadedness second. 3570k is such a good cpu too, besides pure performance it's just wayyy beyond the fx. It's 22nm vs 32nm, the imc is a million times better..

- z77 is better because of overclocking. The sheer value of just +1ghz is not to be ignored. For good boards, i'd go, in order, tz77xe4 p8z77-v LE, z77-d3h, p8z77-v LK, z77x-d3h, z77x-ud3h, and generally just go for the cheapest one. The MSI g41/g43, pro3/4, any biostar board, are okay if they are significantly cheaper and are okay with a sub-par board just to get a 1ghz overclock and good value. I'd only get more than those if your an enthusiast and enjoy overclocking and that sort of stuff.

HDD, SSD, CPU cooler, USB 2.0 Audio Interface have already taken their seats inside my rack.. Will use my old keyboard and mouse.

You should definitely get an SSD, it's a big fail not to get an SSD in a build these days, and you'll notice a bigger increase in awesomeness going from a HDD to SSD, than from some crappy athlon ii x2 and i7. It's just huge, especially in general usage. The more storage you need, the worse quality drive you can get. If you really need 1TB of storage and are pirating blu rays, then well that's all you can get and sorry so sad. try to incorporate any ssd in your build at least then.

There's not much reason to get more than 2x2=4gb of ram for just gaming (im not sure about music recording). You can find really, really good PSC (timings like 9/11/9 or 8/10/8 kind of thing) in only 2x2gb sticks, and bbse also is only in 2gb density. Way cheaper just to get 2x2gb ram that performs way better, too. But really the cheapest ram is your best bet ,no reason to put money towards 'better' ram as you wont notice it. But the thing is you can find high performance psc/bbse 2x2gb ram for the same price as the cheapest ram, which is what makes it awesome.

ssd- not sure which kingston you mean but i would not recommend any of them. The intel x25-m g2/320 are good budget ssds. the kingston hyperx 3k is a decent ssd but not as good as teh crucial m4 or samsung 830 series. For just 32gb just get the cheapest ssd you can, really...

cpu cooler isn't good.

dvd burner, do you still use dvds? They are 480 lol.

the monitor is crap. get a 1080 monitor at least.

i would not get those monitors... just get a receiver, 2 decent speakers and a subwoofer.

keyboard - I would not pay anything for a keyboard more than $5 unless it was a mechanical keyboard. I'm sure you can find a keyboard for free if it's going to be a piece of crap. Otherwise, a mechanical keyboard is fully worth the price premium. I'd recommend brown or blue (blue is loud, but seems to be the favorite of people who try all the switches). Most people who've tried all say black is the worst. Red is okay, some people like it. All switches are awesome compared to non-mechanical though.

For psu, dont just get a seasonic... really depends on the prices and quality available to you. But any high quality 300w+ psu would be overkill for you.

For a better single gpu, I'd recommend the gtx 470. 460 is good too but not as big an upgrade over the 7750 (i mean it's like 80% better i think). crossfire/sli is plagued with issues, i'd stay away from it if you can.

What store or site are you buying these parts from? I'd really help if you gave us like a website or something. Price really is what determines what parts to get.

^ Isn't k edition cpus really expensive in foreign countries? In that case yea, maybe dont get a 3570k.

Everything you buy with computer components depends on price. What is a piece of crap, like the z77a-g41, can be awesome if it's $19.99 at microcenter.

asus p8h77-v is a waste of money but again, totally depends on prices and what other stuff is available to you and at what price. You should really go for z77, if anything just the cheapest z77 you can possibly get. Surely it'll be cheaper than that asus?

Anyway, say I go for 3550. Will ASUS P8H77-V serve all the needs the processor demands without any flaw? questionmark.gif

you get only 50$ off not 50% and yes it's even a daydream to me as well. smile.gif
