i5 2500K High Voltage

Thread Starter
Hello ,

I have the following setup:

i5 2500K
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3R (Rev 1.3) http://www.gigabyte.in/products/pr [...] id=3980#ov
Corsair H100i
4X2 (8GB) G.Skill Sniper 1600Mhz CL9
Corsair TX750V2 PSU
Zotac GTX 670 2GB OC
NZXT Phantom Full Tower Case

Currently I have my H100i setup in push configuration where the hot air is pushed out from the Top. I am trying to overclock my i5 2500K by following the Guide posted on the Forum. I have disabled C1E, C3/C6, Turbo, Thermal Monitor, Limit CPUID Maximum in my bios. But I have enabled EIST, Virtualization Technology, Internal PLL Overvoltage and Execute Disable Bit.

I am unable to find LLC (Load Line Calibration) any where in my newly updated UEFI bios. This setting itself is not available. I raised the multiplier to 45 for 4.5Ghz but the voltage is too high. I can only get it to stable at 1.375 volts. Am I doing something wrong. The temps on my CPU with these high volts do not cross 70 degrees at load using IBT on a Balanced fan profile on the H100i.

Can you please help me out with this guys. Is there any extra settings that I need to disable or should I modify something else. All the other voltages are on Auto.
Its becuase your settings are on AUTO and you have only upped the multiplier.

You have to go with a manual voltage or offset voltage, i prefer offset myself.
Set offset to +0.10V and test stability, everytime its not stable up this offset by 0.05 (to +0.15 to 0.20 to 0.35 and so on) untill its stable

Btw, 1.375V isnt that high for a 2500K but 4,4 or 4,5ghz should prolly work stable on 1.32 or 1.35V to.

Well, I had already set the voltage for the CPU manually to 1.375. I tried 1.35 to 1.37 but IBT crashes saying its not stable. Except for the CPU voltage, all the others are on Auto.

How about EIST, should I disable it? and about the Offset voltage, should I keep my CPU voltage on Auto and then tinker with the Offset voltage. Sorry for so many questions but I am a noob in overclocking.

Allright. I put the voltage to Normal and set the Offset (Dynamic Vcore) to +0.005. The maximum voltage reported under windows is 1.4111. The multiplier is set to 45 and the CPU is currently running at 4.5Ghz. The load temps on IBT are 70 degrees max. I have disabled the Internal PLL Overvoltage this time. Everything seems to be stable but the voltage for some reason is still high for a 4.5Ghz Overclock.

1. Should I enable the C1E state now as most of the people recommend to turn this setting ON when using Offset voltages.
2. I disabled Turbo in bios but windows still shows Turbo Max as 5900Mhz when I right click on My computer > Properties. Strange?

Any suggestions buddy. I will be grateful if you can answer these.

I tinkered around a little bit more and was able to achieve 4.5Ghz with +0.000 offset. I could not boot so I enabled internal PLL overvoltage and my max voltages on Prime 95 are 1.38. Temps stay below 70 degrees. C1E are EIST are enabled.

I still dont see LLC. Never mind. I got my CPU stable at 1.368volts @4.6 Ghz with offset set to +0.005 and PLL overvoltage enabled. The temps on Prime 95 do not go more than 67 degrees and 71 degrees on IBT. I have C1E disabled. EIST is enabled. I tried for 4.7 but that requires more voltage and its not stable even with +0.020 offset. So 100Mhz extra wont bother me. Any suggestions?
I would turn C1E back on since that controls sleep states and idle voltages.
Looks like we've got the same board and CPU.
What i find works for me is, set the multiplier and set the VCORE to 'Normal' (Not Auto) and you dont need to touch any other settings.

It'll clock down the frequency and voltage when it needs to aswell, and you shouldn't run into any VDroop either.
When i set mine this way it runs at 4.3Ghz with 1.34v Max and turns it down when the system is idle or when you're just web browsing, getting the same temps with and without OC too.
Give it a shot, let the mobo do the work thumb.gif

It's in the menu with the voltage settings and it's labeled as Load Line Calibration on our board. smile.gif

But I dont want to have it at 4.3Ghz. Its very low for me. I'd rather have it high volts.

Where I still dont see LLC under by Bios. I am pretty confident about it. I have looked everywhere atleast 20 times frown.gif
Can you send me a screenshot or let me know under which menu you found the LLC? BTW I have the Rev 1.3 of this motherboard. I guess you have 1.0 ? I recently flashed the bios to UEFI and I think you have a native bios (AWARD)
