Sony’s MDR7506 have always been an industry standard in broadcast and recording studios. A rugged, collapsible designed, folding construction allow for compact storage in it’s provided soft case.

Google any of your favorite musicians on set and see what headphones they are wearing when working. Odds are they are MDR-7506's. Why? The reasons mentioned above, and the fact that they have a flat response curve and are relatively cheap due to the fact Sony sells tonnes of these worldwide.

If you think you know better than the global music industry, the truth is you don't.

/thread

1) They aren't flat at all
2) The only reason they are popular is because they are cheap and do the job of vocal tracking, which is what headphones are mainly used for in music studio and broadcast purposes. Also the frequency response mimics a lot of TV speakers without subwoofers.

The ER4S is scientifically 'flat'. i.e. what the human ear frequency response is.

I know that many people don't know these but Koss Pro 100 are pretty good headphones. They say dj on them but so far I can't see anything that makes them dj apart form a stereo/mono switch. Excellent sound with great mids. Soundstage is superb too. You can try them on at local walmart or bestbuy.

That's not fair. You're comparing a $230 pair of IEM's to commodity $60 headphones. I'm not pretending that mdr-7506 are the best ever. But they are the best fit for the OP's needs in a $60 to the front door price. Yes, they are cheap but that's only because they are so popular. Also, I would never sit for a really long extended listening session with IEM's as even the best get very uncomfortable after a while. And let's not get into the 'shared' IEM usage environments.....
