Func MS-3

Thread Starter
I bought the Func MS-3 mouse earlier this week and had nothing but problems with it. The settings application would not function properly and the mouse would keep dying on me. No matter what USB port I used, chipset drivers, power settings...nothing would fix the problem. I even went so far as to go from Windows 8 to a fresh install of Windows 7.

Last night, I was inspecting the cable for the mouse and I noticed it seemed way too overly wound and had a bunch of loops in it. Very similar to how if someone hung a mouse and spun it around while holding the other end of the cable. Unfortunately, it appears my mouse suffered QC problems as the cable sleeving is extremely tight and once I fixed the sharp loops in the cable(manually smoothed the cable with fingers), my problems have been mostly resolved.

Your move may vary, but be careful and if you buy one, inspect the cable.

EDIT: A Func rep has contacted me on this board. I will see if working with them can prove for the better.

EDIT 2: Func replaced my mouse for me and a little something for my troubles. Take note, their support center is not based out of the United States, so there may be a slight response delay. The new mouse is a LOT better.

Why would you ever buy a mouse made by Func industries...

^Because the design is interesting and you don't have to look the logo like Mionix. Anyway, I ordered this mouse yesterday so it should be here in a couple of days (I can leave a post here for my first impressions and any technical problems if the Op wants).

I'm not worrying too much though, as long as the shell is in good shape I can always change the internals. biggrin.gif

I can tell that it's a horrible mouse just by looking on it.

That's a shame, I was actually looking at that mouse. Looks like it would be fairly comfortable.

Do not get me wrong, I do enjoy the mouse now that I appear to have fixed the manufacturing problem. However, I want to alert others to inspect their cables and to be patient with their support as they are an overseas operation.

I've always thought that those over-ergonomic designs result in more discomfort due to our natural anatomical differences, that's why shapes like the WMO or the MX518 are the most popular...
Now... that FUNC mouse sure looks cool in pictures, but once again, beauty can be misleading...

Good to know, once again, that their support and Q/C is terrible... I read enough opinions on the pre-release post here to know that Func should be avoided at all costs.

And as a fun fact I found this review: http://www.gamezoom.net/artikel/Func_MS_3_Gaming_Mouse_Test_Review-27232-2
Where the reviewer actually puts the only 2-way scroll in the CONS list... what are this reviewers smoking nowdays ?

Also, it says the mouse has 2-year warranty... well for that price it is the least I would expect
