Help me decide on an upgrade please - Page 2

I have no plans on WC in my next rig unless I come upon a lottery ticket. I might just go for the standard dual x card with the voltage unlock. That is important for me in about two years when I need to OC the card lol.

I hate to pester you again, but why is it that Sapphire has 4 of these cards! I just noticed that this one appears to be the same as the one you mentioned above, but is $10 less. Model number ends in -3L instead of -2L. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600286767%20600286739&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&CompareItemList=48|14-202-003^14-202-003-TS%2C14-202-006^14-202-006-TS%2C14-202-026^14-202-026-TS%2C14-202-007^14-202-007-TS

I won't be going for the Vapor Chamber designed card just in case I do decide to watercool it later on and I don't like a locked down card, I have experienced that enough in the past and it really limits OC'ing.

the 3L card is a custom PCB and will not fit with full cover waterblocks. the PCB is shorter at 27cm while the reference is 29cm long. the model no is 11196-19-20G. you can check ekwb site for waterblock compatibility

www.coolingconfigurator.com

you can see the 3L card here

http://www.overclock.net/t/1367119/sapphire-100352-3l-hd7950-stripped-for-your-viewing-pleasure

Sapphire 11196-19-20G Newegg SKU 100352-3L

Sapphire 11196-16-20G Newegg SKU 100352-2L AMD Reference PCB design.
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1713&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

both cards have unlocked voltage. but the 2L will have better resale value being a AMD reference PCB design which can work with full cover waterblock.

if you want to stay around USD 250 go for the sapphire HD 7870 XT (Tahiti LE) mentioned above . around 15% slower than HD 7950 boost. on par with GTX 660 Ti.

I would love to go with that card but its out of stock and i can't seem to find any other reliable source of where to purchase it, also a HD 7950 is out of my spending limit by about ~$110
but i see the nice specs that the 7870 XT has

*EDIT* sorry i mixed up this post and my OP biggrin.gif
