75% Mech Keyboard? - Page 2

I have the KBT Race and Noppoo Choc Mini. I like the layout and look of the Race better, but the Choc Mini feels better built to me. I actually had to just RMA my Race to get a couple of the LEDs fixed that decided to stop working, which is a somewhat common problem for them from what I have read online.

this is interesting information, esp cus the kbt race costs more than a choc mini. might just pick up a choc mini if thats the case since i dont need the backlighting anyway. although the kbt race i was looking at was the PBT non backlight version...

build quality is very important to me. however if the backlighting is the only issue and the race feels solid besides that, i dont mind spending the extra $20 on the pbt race, just for the keycaps alone. although the choc mini comes with POM keycaps and not ABS, which is almost as good as PBT plastic...almost.

doesnt make sense to me to get a choc mini for $90 and then spend another 40-45$ on a pbt keycap set when i can just get the race for $110.

my ducky shine is of very very good build quality and i've had no problems with the backlighting in the year+ that i've owned it and so getting something similar in build quality would be nice. however its just to big for my setup and i need to get something smaller for my desk. plus the way the F key row is on the 75% boards makes them more ideal for hotkeys in games like MMO's (which i frequently play)

thoughts?

If you want the PBT keycaps then definitely get the Race, because getting aftermarket keycap sets for these boards with non-standard layouts is a massive pain in the butt.
