[PCGH.de] Titan sli Vs 7970 Toxic cf - Page 5

An $800 video card setup should never beat a $2000 setup. If Nvidia's customers are dropping that kind of money then their driver team needs to be working around the clock to make sure their experience is smooth in at least the new and popular titles.

Also, I know the i7 3820 is fast but Techpowerup only has it clocked at 4.3GHz. I don't think it would be too far fetched to think it would bottleneck two titans in some cases and most certainly bottleneck three titans that they tested.

But the 4.3Ghz 3820 TPU used should be slower than the 4.5Ghz 3770K used in this review, yet TPU got higher Titan SLI scaling(78%) than this review(58%) so I don't think CPU bottleneck had anything to do with this review's really poor SLI sacling.

Firstly, these aren't regular 7970's. They are $600 cards running at 1200 MHz core. Secondly, the reviewer stated the limited they Titan's core to 876 MHz. rolleyes.gif

The 7970's are virtually maxed out on overclock while the Titan's are under-clocked. They fixed the Titan core to 876 MHz. Not sure why so many review sites are fail.

Who cares?

$600 < $1000

Anyone else wondering why the GTX680 looks so slow compared to the 7970GE? Ever since titan reviews surfaced i've been puzzled by just how much of a difference there is between the two cards.

A standard 7970(non ghz) is now on par with a 680 with latest drivers.

I hope Nvidia doesn't forget about the 680 now that the Titan is out and that you guys get more performance boosts

not holding my breath for that one. the driver experience from nvidia was really good BUT after never settle drivers nvidia is been playing catch-up and I had nothing but headaches with nvidia drivers. amd has done much better than nvidia this gen and everyone knows it

However, I still think Titan is a overpriced card. Rendering it useless IMO.

One sells for less than $500 with mature drivers
the other sells for double that with drivers that can improve

Well, both sides are suffering from something, AMD has yet to release their memory management optimizations which improve latency so the grass is not greener lol. redface.gif

I do not think AMD with "fix" the memory latency.

They are busy working on real problems I think.
