[Build Log] My CaseLabs SM5 (Reverse mATX, 2700K, GTX 690)

Merlin SM5

Hello fellow OCN members. wave2.gif
So I've picked up a CaseLabs SM5, and I'm in the process of putting together my build, figured I would share with the community what I got going on.

Hope you enjoy.

The plan - All of the components are already in use in my FT03 and are carrying over to the CL SM5. Everything works great for my needs so didn't really need a upgrade/sidegrade......plus with everything I spent on the case and water cooling components, there wasn't really budget for anything else. redface.gif
The build isn't going to be super outrageous or extravagant like some of the others found around here, but just for me trying to go super clean and simple.

Quick run down
CPU - i7 2700K
Motherboard - MSI Z77MA-G45
Graphics - EVGA GTX 690
Memory - 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X
SSD - 2x Crucial 64GB M4's
HDD - Western Digital 1TB Black
PSU - Corsair AX850

Right then, so let's get into it. The case arrived last week, and I really haven't had much time to do anything until this weekend. Didn't really do any unboxing pics, but here it is as soon as I pulled it out of the box.

Fast forward to today, and I decided last minute, I wanted to reverse things. The case was very easy to work with and took me maybe 10-15 minutes to reconfigure the orientation. Love it.

Well more updates are to follow soon. Sorry I know probably not the most exciting start....but just wanted to get the ball rolling. Thanks!

lol welcome.

So as well as reversing the case today, also laid out all the parts and went through them.
Here is the classic "group parts shot".

The boxes on the left are actually just empty haha, like I said the core components are already in use and will have to be transferred into the SM5.

Blocks and pump for the build. Last rig I was using a D5, decided to give the MCP35X a go. Got the heatsink to go along with it, it's said that the pump can run very warm. devil.gif

Here are the radiators for the build. One is an XSPC EX240 multi-port. The other an XSPC EX360 X-flow.
Looking at the EX240 today made me realize I derped and I forgot to order plugs for all the unused ports...so I placed that today.

EX360

Last couple builds I did, I painted my rads several different times. On the fence about doing it this time, just because I'm not sure what color I would go with. Definitely don't want to go white though, I think it will just blend in too much.

Note: You'll notice some of the photos below are shot in my ghetto homemade lightbox, it was my first go at it, so please don't be harsh. wink.gif

Here's the blocks. Guess you could say I'm a bit of an EK fanboy. smile.gif I've used EK in my 600T, my Switch 810, and now they're going in my SM5. They've just always worked real well for me, and the crop circles really don't bother me.

I've used BP reservoirs in the past, and I love them. The 150mm was out of stock everywhere I looked, and the 250 was too darn big, so I went with an 80mm.

Here is the bag 'o fittings, it's all white BP barbs and adapters. Most of it is 1/2 inch barbs so I can use it with 7/16" ID x 5/8" OD tubing, and go clampless.

Tubing is Durelene

Well I guess that's enough of looking through parts for now, it's late and I'm off to bed, so I can do more tomorrow. sleepysmileyanim.gif
