OK I am currently torn between these 3 motherboards. The Gigabyte board seems like a great board, but doesn't have the fan control that the Asus board has. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this) The Asus board has great fan control, but has a slow post time and the Gigabyte board isn't much better. Then there is the Fatal1ty Professional by Asrock that is actually fairly impressive looking and has a very fast boot time. The only reason why I haven't jumped on it already is I don't really know much about it. How is the fan controls, power delivery for overclocking, stability, etc. Another issue is I don't even know if I can go by reviews since I am sure firmware has probably improved on some, changing the game up at list a little bit. So which one would you guys recommend and why?

Edit: I am also open to suggestions to anything else noteworthy in this price range. I just wish MSI's Mpower board had offset and this decision would have been made easy.

why?

i voted for the gigabyte, i think is a great board and idk if you really want to power your fans from the MB, a real fan controller will be best and they are cheap, as for the asrock i haven't seen any complain, and in the marketplace is one for 150USD i think.

the 3 MB are great, if i was you ill take the one with the color scheme i like most, or the gigabyte if you need the mssd slot, (Notice the asus dont have have PCI port if you have a pci sound card like me that will be a problem).

sorry if i misspelled something.

The main reason I am tempted by the Maximus V Formula is because of the very nice integrated sound card. I am not usually one to spend money on discrete audio, but if it is already included in the board, plus the quality that goes along with a ROG board, it seems like a win win. How much difference will that sound card make over something like the UD5H? Also does anybody know how the post times compare? I had trouble finding any for the ROG board.

if you want great sound you dont want a card on the MB pcb. a more fair comparation to the formula will be the up5.

An integrated sound card is a joke. If you're going to pay about $100 premium for MVF, you can as well get a good dedicated audio card.

If you must have better onboard audio, G1 Sniper 3 is a better choice.

But Xonar DX/DGX + UD3H/UD5H or P8Z77-V and V-Pro is a better way to go.

UD5H slight edge over P8Z77V-pro because UD5H is cheaper, have the Debug Port 80 Display & ALC 898 codec with headphone Amps(instead of ALC892 with no Amps), both over Fata1ity because Digitial VRM > Analog VRM. If you want more complex fan control options & Fan Xpert 2 get V-pro.

Sabertooth and MVF looks cooler but in fact have weaker VRM( 4 phase doubled to 8) than both UD5H & V-Pro(6 phase doubled to 12) for more money, you are better off spending the extra $$ on a Sound card or just save the cash to spend on something else.

I would pass on the Fatality professional and go with the Gigabyte board or Asus. I own a Fatality, looks nice for sure and performs on par. Bios updates have fixed most issues however on my board, as I am not speaking for any other Asrock boards, misreads vcore. I the higher you overclock the worse it gets. I'm talking about cpuz voltage compared to my DMM (Fluke meter). There is a thread on here discussing this, just do a seach.
