Hello overclockers! Need some water cooling advice.

So I have this really crappy case that i bought not too long ago which is called Enermax Ostrog. Ok it is awesome it terms of price ratio even though it lets alot of dust come in (doesn't have filters) and some noise out (but it's in a place that makes echo). The problem is, i want a water cooler like the h110 but the double radiator wont fit because of the fans and o the side panel wont fit because of the GFX card. Should i opt for a 140mm custom water cooling solution? Doesn't need to be extreme and can't be more expensive than 170£.

Hope you could help and if you need some pictures to see how i made my cable management set up and all that stuff!

Technically I think you could fit an H100i or an H220 from Swiftech up top, since based on the specs of your case it has room for 2 x 120 mm or 2 x 140 mm up there.

I'm basing it on this:

Enermax Ostrog

If you look at the technical details it says on 'Air Cooling - Top' - optional: 2 x 12 / 14 cm fans. I think a 240 rad will cool better than a 140 rad given the bigger surface area. That should give you the space to still have a side panel fan fitted. To be sure check out the h100i specs or the Swiftech H220 spec sheet so you can make measurements on your end.

I'd personally pick the H220 (since you can add on GPU block and a rad) for future expansion but out of the box it can be a plug and play type kit. The kit also comes out to UK 110 pounds so way below your budget but with the added expandability if you choose to down the road.

Hope this helps in any way!

The problem is about the RAM sticks, the radiator will most likely hit the heat sinks. But thanks for the answer anyways! smile.gif

I wanted to keep it inside the case since esthetics are a little bit of an issue. But if I have no other choice than I'll go with your idea, thank you!

Looking at the picture, a 120 / 240 rad might fit there considering where the mounts are. Have you tried fitting a 120 mm fan on top and see if it gives you any clearance for the ram to fit?

Another option would be to sell your rams and get some low profile ones so any rad you choose would fit or at least give you better clearance.

Sorry for the HUGE late reply. Yes but I've also seen people reviewing the case and saying that the rad won't fit even with LP RAM sticks. So i guess I'll go with a 140mm rad. Plus I'm changing my screen and my GPU in June so I'll run out of money for now, I'll probably do the water cooling change by christmas or a little bit before and hopefully some really thick 140mm rads will come out by that time, thanks anyway! smile.gif

Give it a try mate, sometimes you might need to file down just some plastic off the fan and it will fit right where you didn't expect

Trust me, look at mine smile.gif I literally needed 2-3mm of clearance on my ram and I was able to do it.
Sorry for my messy case! Waiting on my GPU block and rest of the setup for my new loop so i can truly FIX it hehe

Another option would be ( i know you want stuff inside the case ) mount just the radiator inside the case and mount the fans on top and get some really sweet fan grills
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=36_91_710
and you could go around the actual fan with some wire mesh or whichever material you desire

Would look like a fully custom modded top instead of just some fans that are sitting up top smile.gif

Wish you the best mate GL:thumb:
