Perfect Pixel Yamakasi 300 Sparta Tempered Glass 30" Monitor - Page 4

We are trying to help others who have clearly not done their research not make the mistake of spending 600$+ on a b grade monitor which CAN NOT display colors properly (wide gamut) and lack a real warranty. PRAD reviewed the Acheiva version of these it was terrible (mediocre colors and black levels).

http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/test/2012/test-shimian-qh300.html

Maybe the Yamakasi and CrossOver versions have better colors and don't have the same brightness+black level issue, but that still won't change the fact that these are all wide gamut.

The 27" Koreans are a different story since they are sRGB and are half the price.

I received two of these yesterday that I purchased off of Amazon and they seem to be in excellent working order. 3 day shipping from S. Korea for $12.99 is pretty awesome.

your second fault is calling me an idiot for voicing my opinion. this is what's wrong with this website, everyone that has an opinion that goes against other people's opinion are automatically called idiots. i never once said that you were dumb for buying a korean monitor with no gurantees.

also with the dell support thing..all you have to do is hang up and try again.

I didn't call you an idiot (CURaven did), I called you a fool. I didn't do it because you voiced your opinion I did it because of the way you approached the subject. CURaven had a bad experience with an eBay seller, not the monitor, and you say "this is why I won't buy a korean monitor". How many people do you think have had GOOD experiences with these monitors and eBay sellers? Plenty. You rarely hear their opinion because they are happy with their purchase and while some might comment or post reviews the angry and upset ones always make the biggest stink. I personally just ordered a Shimian monitor on the 5th, I still don't have it but the eBay seller green-sum has been nothing but helpful and had amazing communication in the status with replies in as little as 12 hours.

The reason I paid so much is because I have two Ultrasharp series monitors, since you own a Dell monitor (albeit yours being a S series) you already know this but they are a step above everything else including the price. Just because they are so amazing doesn't mean everyone sees the value, I did but I don't any longer because of the Korean monitors provide so much value for what you get.

It really boils down to the whole point that you only came in to post a blatantly biased opinion in a thread that had nothing to do with it, if you weren't interested in the monitor why did you bother to enter the thread? (I know you're going to go blah blah why did you enter as a rebuttal so I'll answer that now, I came in to get information about them as I had considered purchasing one myself and it's still a possibility as I might create my own desk giving me more space)

@MenacingTuba
I understand and appreciate it, I almost ordered one of these myself (thankfully I don't have the desktop space for a 30" and two 24" monitors. Your information was much different from what srsparky32 is saying, you actually mentioned he's providing nothing but trolling and his opinion to the conversation.

Really though for the price point, it's not a bad monitor at all. I can't find anything close (except the ultra wide monitors) that aren't at least double the price, the question is to the average person who would buy one of these will they really notice the difference?

I appreciate the affirmation Dextar. Why these people don't just drop dead go away, I have no idea.

For the record, I just wanted to warn people about dream_seller's actions, which IMO amounted to fraud.
I did get my money back and now I'm waiting for a tracking number from ta_planet on this model.

it seems like you guys are really mad about people having different opinions and anyone that dosent like the korean monitors should go roast in a fire. its pretty immature and its why this website sucks, people like CuRaven and Dextar.

These are not a good deal @ 600$ since there are many sub 200$ monitors with considerably better colors and real warranties. 630$ buys a Dell U2713HM with a real warranty and 760$ buys the best all around high res display, the Viewsonic VP2770. Currently there are no good affordable 30" monitors, the only decent ones (NEC/Lacie/Eizo) cost 1500$+ and require calibration but they still use very grainy matte coatings (all matte 30" do).

An average person goes to the store and buys the display with the biggest dynamic contrast ratio and highest brightness rating. Compared to a good 200$ monitor these will clearly have inaccurate colors and if the CrossOver/Yamakasi' 30's are like the Achieva Shimian 30" PRAD reviewed they will also have poor black levels too.

Too add salt to the injury, currently only tempered glass monitors A-MVA panels have blacks deep enough to not look grey-ish when paired with glass.

I dunno Dexter, I'd rather talk with Dell support than someone on eBay regarding an electronic device, or a pencil sharpener for that matter. I was gonna buy one these 30 inchers but I couldn't live with the thought of wondering if (or when) that funky power brick might burn down me casa; and that weird glass cover over the screen that all these eBay sellers highlight in their description of this 30 incher from a ga-zillion miles away. And geeez, the creepiest part to me was the thought of, or, better said the statements of how this A- panel will bleed here and be dead there. It didn't take me long to come my senses; I decided to go with Dell.

We all spend our money one way or another, but I just don't like buying stuff with funky names sold on eBay with descriptions of how janky it will probably be; and not only that, if it is janky I have to take it like a man. As if that's not enough it must have a power brick (with numerous posts about heat issues) so I can use it here in the States. That's my toooooo sense.

Finally back to report on the new monitor. I wanted to give myself a few weeks using it. It's everything I wanted it to be. I got a this http://www.ebay.com/itm/321086070274?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

It's fantastic! biggrin.gif

Colors are awesome, no pixels ded, i likey the tempered glass. BF3 looks super awesome!
umm what else is there?
The YAMAKASI on the front bezel is too big for my taste. I didn't bother with the included stand; used a different monitor stand (from a broken dell 3007). The power supply gets a bit warmer than the auria 27" ps, but not crazy hot. thumb.gif

I don't want to seem crazy, but would anyone one care to confirm/comment response time? I think this is monitor displays faster than the auria 27" I got from microcenter. That's the subjective way it seems to me.

The only problem I had was with dreamseller (see above mad.gif) but, ta_planet came thru with beautiful flying colors!
I wish I had done this last year.
