7950 Vapor X + two 8 pin connectors + mem voltage + VRM cooling

For those who have recently have bought the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor X with two 8 pin connectors, I want to get an idea of their VRM cooling capabilities.

I heard mixed reviews about VRM cooling and it seems it has to do with either the cooler/VRM design, and/or the low stock memory voltage 1.5v. Supposedly there should be a new vBios that changes the memory voltage to 1.6v for better vrm cooling but that is questionable.

Do you know what are the stock memory voltages on them? is it 1.5v or 1.6v?

If not, what are your mem clocks and VRM temps?

Also, were you able to change the GPU voltage using Trixx 4.6.0 in Bios1? Because I heard the card has LL to lock the voltage and the new Trixx can disable that.

where will you get the Vbios? I was searching sapphire site and it has nothing about bios update for 7950 vapor x. I have also same card as yours.

As a general rule, flashing of bios is a big NO NO. you may end up bricking your card. I wonder why do you need to oc your voltage? is your OC not enough?

i don't have the card just researching.

Edit: I was just doing some research and I think I might go with the Sapphire Dual X HD 7950 boost rev 3 instead. Vapor-X seems to have dubious issues surrounding voltage locks and VRM components/heating/cooling.

Well I dont have issues with VRM cooling. (yet). But thats what RMA comes in. you can always ask for replacement. As far as I know Vapor X cooling has better chamber compared to dual x. As thats what sapphire was well know and got rewards on their vapor x technology. I dont have experience with the dual X as I never own one although I wish I have the dual x due to no full water block for vapor x models cause those cards has a special PCB's.

Its good that you search as that was my mistake initially before I bought cards. I just search best 7950 and all over nets sapphire is well known on AMD cards and vapor x caught my eye and I just went for it. Now I wanted to crossfire but their fan shroud is very big so it is not ideal for crossfire. That was one my mistake. Although I like the looks of my vapor x card ^_^ and it would be nice if crossfired. Now I am thinking of buying another vapor x card either a 7970 or 7950 again so they will look good inside my case. Only my plan though thats why I am doing intensive search now about new case as if I go with my plan, I need a best air cooling case. ^_^

The new design [signified by 8+8 pin power] has completely improved cooling, supposedly. Sapphire told me the cooler was completely redesigned and improved.

So, considering the VRM cooling was "bad' but not unbearably bad, it should be pretty good now..
