Thinking about making the switch to Intel...

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I'm really thinking about making the switch to intel. I've heard that intel chips are a lot better for gaming which is what I primarily do on my current rig. My current chip/mobo setup is an amd fx 8120 and a sabertooth 990fx (gen 1) do you fellas think it would be worth the switch? And if so, what chip/mobo would you recommend?

I'm not sure about the motherboard, but I recommend the i5-3570K.

It's a computer!

The I5 will give you maybe 10 more fps, but what is your video card choice here? Are you switching that too? I honestly would just recommend just getting a 8350 and save money on the mobo side and keep he current one, it goes neckandneck with the I5. Your choice of course though if you want to make the switch smile.gif

8350 is barely slower than the 3570K while being cheaper and you won't have to buy another motherboard. Intel is good if you want to do multiple GPUS.

if you dont have the money right now, id say just go fx 8350. new haswell intel chips are coming out also, if you wanna wait but im sure there it's always more expensive at first release.....but the 8350 will beat the 3570k in multithreaded apps, or in some cases games like crysis 3 for example.

Yea and there is a killer deal going on right now, the 8350 is selling for 169.99 at microcenter. im thinking long and hard about this though, cause i do eventually plan on going multiple GPU's. I only have a gtx 580 sc right now and the 1.5 gb of vram is getting me downskies. :/
