E6700-P5W DH@3.36 What am i missing?

P5W DH
XMS2 8500@1008mhz (2.2v)
E6700@336x10 (Vcore 1.4v)
Temps 31 idle.
The Vcore volts read 1.352>1.36 why?
The rest of the mobo components have also been given a little more juice.
Anything past 3.36ghz is unstable.
????????????

I had the same board with you but with a e6600, i can clock it to 3.6 with 1.46 vcore(it does get a little bit too hot, w/cing coming). I remember i can clock my e6600 to 3.3 with stock vcore

Try set the following
Set DRAM/DIMM Voltage (vDIMM) to 2.1V or 2.2V if specified by RAM (+0.3V or +0.4V)
Set MCH Voltage (vMCH) to 1.55V
Set FSB Voltage (vFSB) to 1.40V
Increase SB Voltage (vICH) by +0.1V from default-lowest value

I upgrade from a skt 478 with agp board, so pci-e board is new to me.
I followed the conroe overclocking guide on some other forum.
Here's the link:
http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardw...ict197995.html

Hope it help

Tried evrything you mentioned now im running vcore@1.4125v and only managing a stable 3.4g i can get it higher but it aint stable.Temps have only gone up 2-3 to 31. Not sure if its wise to push vcore any further $$$.
I have no clue as to how some are getting stable 3.66 with 1.4v.
http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=570&p=1
These guys claim to run 3.66 on 1.35v & stable Somehow i dont think so.

It all depends on your cpu stepping (a code printed on the IHS).

If you have say L28, that means its a week 28 chip. These are widely regarded as the best overclocking chips, them and week 29's.

The way to check is to look at the box or look on the IHS.

I have a week 28 E6600. I'm stable at 3.6 Ghz 1.38v. I can get to 3.8 with 1.475v. Its all about the chip, if your lucky you'll get a good one that will overclock well, won't need a lot of volts and will stay cool.

You could try 400 x 9 with 1.45v. Thats a safe voltage for C2D's and is very similiar to my settings

your safe up to 1.5 vcore as long as your cooler will handle it. Please go to "user cp" at the top of page and fill out the system specs. Knowing what hardware you have will help us to help you. Take a couple of screenshots of cpu-z showing the main and memory tabs so we can see what your settings are.

Yet to run CPU Z(Fresh PC), Volt settings are as mentioned in Tomshardware link apart from CPU.
Ive got Batch#L628XXXXX & code# XXXXXXXXXXL9S7 their the only numbers close to L28 or L29.

I couldnt get a decent cpuz screeny out of my cheapass webcam but included it anyway as proof that this is a serious request. It turns out that this thing wont clock any higher than 3.40 with absolute stability(will go higher up to 3.48 but its sketchy). If anything at all comes from this thread it would be a WARNING, DONT $pend$ the extra on 8500/1066 ram,I expected to clock passed the rated 1066 but 1020 is final, E6700 not worth it either everything below the 67 will save you a significant amount of $penny$ at the sacrifice of, well nothing in the E6600's case. Mobo Why bother theirs $cheaper$ alternatives out there that will do the same job if not better, apparently it's the board holding back the ram but with B.S comes B.S. (who do you beleive) was the most common question i asked myself during this build and i got screwed outta $$$$, You will get the same results with Far Le$$.Here are my results for anyone who either wants to help or find out what the $$$ amount of these components will REALLY get you & thats 3.4(1.425v). and we all know shooting anything above 1.400v & you can kiss that intel warranty goodbye.
Ram:
510mhz
FSBDRAM 2:3
5 5 5 15-21
CPU z states Max bandwidth of 8500C5's is 6400(400mhz) isnt that ment to read (533mhz).
Core speed: 3404mhz,
Bus: 340mhz x10
FSB: 1361mhz

Your good for at least 1.45v of vcore dude. If the temps are good, give the baby some more juice!
