Will a 3 pin fan connector fit in a 4 pin header?

Hi OCN,

I recently realised that one of the 3 pin fan connectors on my HAF X doesn't have room on my AsRock Extreme6. All the other 3 pin headers are taken and there is only a 4 pin header left. I tried connecting it anyway but the end/side of the cable hit the fourth pin and therefore it didn't fit. Would cutting off that little end bit be a good idea? Or is there an easier more efficient method?

Regards,
Jaidyn

EDIT: I understand that I can just use a molex but I want to connect it to my motherboard if possible.

Advice of the day: Never try and do anything in the dark. tongue.gif

I tried fitting it again with a torch and whaddya know, it fit.

Although I'm feeling like an idiot at the moment, I appreciate the advice. Thanks for the advice and quick replies. smile.gif
