Ive got a passive 3d monitor. LG D2342P. Its a passive 3D Monitor and comes with its own glasses.

With my old 7850 I was using TriDef 3D and was suffering a huge fps hit, the same hit im seeing now with my 670. Dont get me wrong the 670 perfoms outstandingly well, but im still seeing a huge fps decrease.

This is probably, like you said, as TriDef 3D only works on 2 core which is probably the cause of this.

If i use 3DVision though, will it just work with my current glasses and monitor.

Dont I have to use Nvidia's special glasses etc?

Thanks.

Single GPU for 3d??, well... i play games in 3D and first of all, V-ram is not an issue, 2gb or higher is Bliss, plus with Nvidia (i don't know about amd) my fps cuts EXACTLY into half, so if a 7970/680 gets 90fps in BF3 w/o 3d, he will get 45fps wtih 3d and i don't call that smooth gameplay... Even the GTX TITAN performs "okay" on 3d vision with it's 6gb vram, on 1080p 660ti SLI beat it out in every scenario because 3d vision is all about gpu horsepower biggrin.gif
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

So my suggestion is to sell that 7850 FAST!, Nvidia 3d vision is the way to go. So either get a 660 (non ti) SLI, 660 ti SLI, or 670 SLI, You will get good 3d vision with anyone you go with. I used to have a single 670, and 3d on it was total rubbish... No single card will satisfy your 3d vision needs OP. I had to sell mine and get 660 Non ti SLI, if one of my cards gets 65 Fps AVG in battlefield 3 w/o 3d vision + Max settings, two get exactly 63-65fps with 3d vision + Max settings wink.gif

I guess you skipped on my earlier post tongue.gif. Well your fault. I clearly stated that i had a single 670, and it performed horribly in 3D, but you went ahead and bought a single 670 redface.gif

The 670 is not the issue. It can run it on ultra in 3d with aa off but only gets to about 70-80%usage with frames around 50fps. So its the CPU thats causing the FPS Dips. So adding more GPU power would be a complete waste of money.

Anyone who says 3D Gaming is 100% reliant on GPU is wrong, at least for TriDef 3D anyways. Yes it cuts your fps in half, but adding more GPU power alone isnt going to solve anything as my testing has clearly proven.

What test?, you have at 3570k at 4.4ghz, for crying out loud, there is nothing bottle-necking anything... I had my 2500k at 5ghz and a single 670, and 3D was unplayable at max settings bf3, then i got two 660 (non TI), and i ran everything on MAX 60fps. You definitely need more GPU horse power. take it or leave it.. I just recently moved up to a 3770k because i got it for cheap, and it enables better scores for benchmarking wink.gif

Once you go past 1.5gb you get frame drops and thats exactly what happens on friends gtx580 when using 4x msaa. So 1.8gb used for 4x msaa can vary well be possible at times, even though from the greater part of the game it may only be using around 1.5 active, But I for one know 1.5gb is not enough for 4x msaa even with desktop composition disabled.

Interesting...
