Ok I took apart one of the cards here what I found.

Looks like algae to me. So best way to clean it without taking everything part? Can I let the system sit in distilled white vinegar like 20% and 80% distilled water and then flush with distilled?

Also when using the ek fluid again will the copper sulfate fix my issue or should I do something different? I just had problems with distilled and silver and copper sulfate with nickel plating. Im running this loop like I said at 47c 24/7

Sorry for the double post above. I decided to take a picture of me wiping the green away so you guys can see the tarnishing and see if thats an issue. My rad is going to be the worst of this

My friend, this is without a doubt as DaveLT said, oxidising copper.

The premixed EK coolant that you have used is known to many people as ethylene glycol, an antifreeze used as car coolant. This stuff is strong and many people who have used this on EK blocks have reported this oxidisation. The fact that you have green stains on your pump and discoloured metal also points towards an unintended metallic reaction.

Your case is not a severe one, many others have brown sludge or the like running through their systems before they notice what's wrong.

AFAIK algae is a problem if there are no bacterial prevention additives, something premixed coolant always has. However, you are running different metals in your loop and that is enough reason to inhibit corrosion in your loop. You could say that the EK coolant was a catalyst for the reaction.

Plasticiser develops on the tube, but in severe cases the plasticiser comes off the tube and spreads around your loop...it is visible and removable by touch.

As OP touched the block/pump and i believe the green stain is still there, it is definitely not plasticiser or algae, as algae has texture and should come off.

In future, I recommend to OP the following improvements:

1. Run coloured tubing from a reputable tubing company (PrimoChill or MasterKleer) to prevent plasticiser problems.
2. Never use any form of pre-mixed coolant or dye in your loop. Dyes stain blocks and reservoirs after constant use and pre-mixed coolants are a recipe for unwanted disasters.
3. Use a mixture of Demineralised/De-ionised water with a few drops of Liquid Utopia, LU is stuff that is proven to work as a corrosives inhibitor as well as preventing algae.

Hope this helps smile.gif

Yes it does help. Can I use distilled and LU or does it need to be considered deminteralized or ionized water?

So was I described before will that be the best way to clean everything or should I take all the blocks apart and clean the bad areas and then do that? What about the rad? Just a little nervous about my parts.

distilled and LU is fine smile.gif

u cant really "clean" corrosion...try flushing everything with 9 parts distilled water and 1 part vinegar and see how you go...
corroded parts mostly end up in the bin, sad to say frown.gif
