What's funny is that my sister who's extremely reckless with her macbook hasn't had a single problem in its entire lifetime except for some software error. My friend has a macbook from 2009 that's still working perfectly and he's on it everyday.

Also worth mentioning is the apple touch pad. No other touch pad comes even close imo.

And my Mac from 2006 (other than a broken screen which was caused by carelessness from me and a HDD that died which could happen to anything with a HDD) is perfectly fine to this day. I do need to use an external monitor to use it but it still does work as if it was brand new. Before/during the time I had that same Mac I had to go through 3 other laptops that fell apart due to bad build quality.

off topic, but you know what annoys me a lot more than the small amount of viruses for osx? the broken efi/hdmi support in bootcamp. if 10.8.3 doesn't come out soon and fix this issue, i'm going to an apple store and demanding satisfaction. i'm wondering if they updated processors they added for the rmbp models are intended to fix this, which makes me question if it isn't fundamentally a hardware issue that cannot be fixed. maybe i should demand a new model

I have System Center Endpoint Protection installed on my work Mac.

it has only picked up windows malware on mounted network shares.

As much as I love a good Apple bash; and believe me, I do. There is no bash to be had here.

As Apple gains market share, they are going to become a more profitable target for malware writers.

That's the facts of life, sadly.

If you want to bash something, bash the pathetic losers who sit there writing malware, so they can be lazy and not have to work an honest days living and contribute to society like everyone else.

My experience with PC laptops (non-Apple) has been the total opposite with the exception of Sony. I had a Compaq laptop that lasted over 5 years and died only beauase I dropped it.

And to be fair.. the graphic power of the MBP is capable of more then 97% of what people do (Obviously not gaming maxed out but video and graphic work)

TECHNICALLY. I'd say the pathetic losers who sit there and write malware contribute far more that you think in the sense that it's them who keep a lot of people in jobs who work to fight what they make.

If no one made any viruses or malware, A LOT of people would be out of work.

I am pretty sure Apple are not idiots and knew when they were advertising saying "virus proof", knew that it is false.

No OS is virus proof. There was just no interest in OSX.

Yes I know they haven't advertised it since 2009.
