$1900 Build - Thoughts? - Page 2

I believe I'm going to switch the case to the NZXT Switch. I'm not a huge fan of the stock looks but I think it'd be great for a case mod. Remove the stupid fins on the top and replace with a metal/aluminum mesh. Remove the 5.25s for the cooler. Remove the plate infront of the 5.25 area too. Nuke the mobo tray and get a custom worked one to remove all the unneeded wire management holes.

Looked at the Fractal Designs (all of them), the Shinobi, Corsairs and pretty much every other full tower on Newegg, Performance-PCs and Xoxide. Nothing really caught my attention stock or modding wise.

For ebay, probably won't do that besides the monitor. Just buy new, get a warranty, return policies etc and lower shipping.

And what's wrong with thermal take. they are not ugly.. childish may be with the grooves and lights.. i love it
I think they are tongue.gif
Just so much flare, lights, and other things to just look different. I'd feel much better getting a plainish case like the Fractals, Bitfenix, the Switch and then modding to look nice.
Thanks though smile.gif

If I was spending $1900, I would go for an I7 and 32gb of ram.

This is really poor advice. For gaming an i5 is great. And 32Gb of ram?? not only is that unnecessary, it's detrimental to overclocking and puts a strain on the memory controller

I doubt it, if it can support 2666, I'm sure it can support 1866-2133MHz. Probably just considers it overclocked.

Good thing you're not spending my money then. I have very limited need for hyperthreading. Once in a blue moon for rendering. Games? Dont need it. Most applications don't either. The RAM is also very excessive. I'm not making a rendering machine or a database server. If I need more than 16 I should probably reevaluate the software before the hardware...

Though whatever floats your boat.

Good call on modding the Switch 810, it looks really nice if you ignore the top tongue.gif

Total (mostly) before shipping: $1920

Main use is programming. Second uses include photoshop work, 3d work, gaming. Pretty much, am I missing anything essential? Other than missing parts, only thing that can change is the motherboard, video card, RAM and PSU. Prefer not to change the CPU cooler as I like to have a clean case and not a behemoth fan cooler. If I had the extra money I'd do a custom loop but paying an extra hundred or two just to get the same performance on the CPU, then another hundred or so for the vga... Not happening right now.

Also, I know the Intel isn't HT. Dont need it.

Edit: Changed VGA to a reference board. Want to do future water cooling with full coverage. Vapor X from what I hear has no current full block.

Looks like a solid build.

Be wary of the korean monitor, they are prone to issues, but you probably already know that.

Good choice on the mice and keyboard.
