That in concert with a faulty bios is causing your sticky multipliers. It's a problem on most asus boards right now, we're waiting for a bios fix for over a month now. Download this. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28319-AI-Suite-II-uninstall-cleaner
Then uninstall AI suite, then run the cleaner. Then reset cmos on your board. Then DON'T install FAN XPERT AGAIN!!
Hopefully this is fixed soon, i have the same problem on my motherboard, kinda p/o cuz i paid 400 for a mobo that is buggy.
EDIT: Follow Feniks advice here.....http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28357-strange-issues-with-latest-bios-(1604)/page11&highlight=1604
when BIOS "lockup" problem happens, what helps me always is a sequence of steps:
a) clear CMOS
b) F1, Load Defs F5, Save & Reset F10
c) go back in, again F5 & F10
d) always good to go from there

EDIT 2: You can also revert back to an older bios, the one just before windows 8 support should NOT have this issue. Unfortunately, ASUS' download servers don't seem to be functioning right now....
working now...looks like BIOS Version 0404 would be the one you would want......Edited by ripsaw - 3/11/13 at 7:43pm
