AMD is generally also more for your money.
Intel generally performs much better. (This depends on application and game.)
A graphics card will affect your gaming more than CPU.
Most users couldn't tell a difference between an Intel CPU and a comparable AMD CPU for everyday use.

Go with what fits your needs/budget/wants.

That's not true, keep in mind Ivy Bridge generally have a much lower stock clock than Pile drivers, and the HWBOT 3770K average on air is actually about 200mhz higher than 8350.

a 3770K overclocked to 4.5Ghz is a 28% OC (4.5/3.5 -1) from stock

a FX-8350 overclocked to 5Ghz is a 25% OC (5/4 -1) from stock

I certainly see more 4.5Ghz+ 3770K here than 5Ghz 8350.

Definitely consider you budget, and how much you can spend on CPU/Motherboard/Cooler( the 125 W TDP & higher Vcore of AMD CPU demand stronger motherboard VRMs).

Generally if you want best multi-thread performance for under $300 you are better off with FX-6300/FX-8320/FX-8350, on the other hand if you play a lot of single thread optimized games (Starcraft2/other old games)/don't do a ton of video encoding the 3570K is not a bad options, If you are near a micro-center then the $229.99 3770K is almost too good to pass up.

Well, the Phenom II X4 is clock-for-clock a tad slower than the Core 2 Quad, which ended production a while ago. Anyone who wants to argue about that, don't bother, I own and OC both and have compared them first hand.

I had a Core 2 Quad at 4.3GHz which I recently retired, and it benched about like a stock 2500K. A 4.0 Phenom II X4 is more like a 3.8-ish Core 2 Quad.

As far as which games like faster CPUs and which ones don't, well do you really want to have to worry about it? The other way to do it is watch your framerates and upgrade when you like a game that runs crappy.
