Hello community!

I have been searching the web on guides to how to overclock my intel i7 870 CPU and it has been an adventure to say the least! I have come up frustratingly short though and gave yet to get the darn thing stable. I tried to see how stable the bclk can be with a low multiplier and it seems I can hit 200. Before I go into it though. I will give you what I have. I hope you can help me solve this!

CPU: i7 870 @ 2.93 ghz
CPU cooler: noctura-nh14
Case: antec twelve hundred
Power supply:thermal take 650
Motherboard: gigabyte p55-ud3 2.0 rev
Graphics card: GeForce 670gtx.
Ram: Kingston value ram 8 gb ddr3 1333ghz.

My goal here is to hit 4ghz. I had it at 200 x 20 multiplier. I put the vcore on auto and it was pumping 1.36V. I think that might be a little high. Also I put the ram multiplier to 6.0 for my 1333mhz ram to run at 1200. I put the pll to 1.9 and vtt to 2.30. I can double check it all tomorrow since I am nodding off to bed. It stayed on for like 20 minutes before bsoding me. Any suggestions would be awesome since I had to revert everything back to stock. Maybe there is something I missed? Should I change the multipliers?

Sincerely,

Mak

Could it be that perhaps my cpu can't hit the 4.0 ghz mark? I've had it for.. over 3 years now.
