2133 Trident X ram on P67 Sabertooth - crashing

Ok. So..was running i7-2600k at 4.5 Ghz for almost 2 years (1.32 vcore) using 1600 Mhz ram on xmp setting.
Passed many hours of Prime95. Rock solid stable computer.

Picked up a set of Trident X ram 2133 9-11-11-31-2N 1.6v
The xmp profile loaded 9-11-11-31-1T btw (verified by CPUID under memory).

http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=550
Loaded one stick, set xmp, good to go. Added second stick, no issues. About 10 minutes into Prime 95 it BSOD's.

I tried manually loading the settings (only the primary timings left the rest on auto), tried xmp but with some extra dram (1.60625) and adding some dram voltage 1.6125. But each time it shut down, then restarted and dropped my turbo to 43 and locked it.
Next added to VCCIO (up to 1.09375). Same thing, but it knocked turbo to 38 and locked it.
So I stuck in the old ram, reloaded optimized defaults, then all my OC settings, reran P95 for an hour - back to normal.

I do want to try the 2133 ram again, but am not sure what to do?

Manually load the timings, bump dram voltage much more significently (1.625) and vccio to 1.1v?
I don't know what the defaults are for VCCIO and VCCSA since they fluctuate in the bios screen

or try loosening timings but keep stock voltages?

If i loosen timings should I start with the 9 and move it to 10?

Any help, thoughts other than 'get your money back' are appreciated.

Do you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard?

Test each module with XMP enabled to see if they are stable. If so, they should work fine together.

Cheers

Hi - I am running bios 1801. I had read that there were potentially serious problems with running bios' meant to support ivy bridge if you were using a SB cpu. Crap like no longer recognizing the SB cpu, etc.
I will do more reaserch on the bios'.

I didn't test the sticks individually, but will do that.

Cheers

Timisyourfriend -

So I updated the bios to 2103 - the last one stating it improved memory compatability. Ran each stick at xmp profile #2 (showing 2133 in cpuid memory but either jedec #5 or #6 or xmp-2000 or xmp-1778 under spd listing) seperately and ran prime95 blend for 30 minutes.
Then ran both sticks together for an hour. Not a single hiccup.

Will run Prime 95 for quite a bit longer tomorrow and Memtest, but need to go to bed and I don't like leaving the computer on.

So I need to figure out exactly what speed I am actually running at, but it seems like I am headed in the right direction.

Thanks for the help. Cheers! thumb.gif
