Are you all sure about that? All BF3 MP benchmarks I've seen give a clear lead to i7 over same gen i5.

Will watch the video now. In my opinion testing an FX-8350 and an i5-3570k with a titan isn't ideal scenario-If you can afford 1k on a gpu you most likely can pair it with an intel extreme i7.

Edit. Watched it. He isn't sugarcoating anything imho. Graphics-wise he does something similar to what logan did, he used a card that isn't top tier- 7870 there,660ti here. That's the reason he isn't doing AA-the performance would tank and he'd be gpu limited most of time. There is a question on i5-3570k clocks. How many of you that have one undelidded and use similar cooling can keep temps under control during stressing? He may tried 4.5 and got uncomfortable but that's a wild guess.
Other than that visheras benefit alot by faster ram, not sure about ivies- so he didn't do any favor to the AMD one by benching it at 1600. All in all pretty similar test to those that logan does-very straightforward almost "pedestrian" and not really sophisticated.
1600 is fair and square. By paying the same amount for both platforms (I think) makes benchmarks fair and square but if you bench AMD at 1866 that's not fair anymore because some RAMs (Vengeance LP LV. That sucker can't boot at 1866 no matter what you try) can't do 1866 and people will be compelled to buy 1866.
Then if i bought 1866 for a intel platform (OR even better, paying slightly more for a higher-end card) i think gains might have to be had but REALLY?

Thing is though, FX8350 is 20-30$ whole cheaper than a 3570k tongue.gif The next thing is, 8350 is alot more power hungry. And AM3+ platform.

have you ever sat and calculated it?

It funny how people go around throwing this stuff without even doing the math.

Well were I live its 8cents per kilowatt/hr.

So i run your system 24/7 @ 100% for a year.
That's 50W higher on average which in a day would be 1.2kW
It costs 26.28cents/kW-h here rolleyes.gif and would cost me 115.10$ extra a year to run the FX-8350

I dont understand why everyone is so scared to go over the magical 70C here on OCN. The chip is designed to throttle when it reaches it's TJMAX.
PFFT. You're the amateur one. He looked around to see the "Average" OCs that people can easily get. Not from OCN though. The IVB people here are gods tongue.gif

Sandy bridge is a good 30% - 40% Faster then 8350

Steam roller at best 15% faster then 8350 so your still chugging 15% slower then " at the time of steam rollers release 3 Generation old Sandy Bridge"
I would like to see that.
The 8150 wasn't very far behind the i5-2500k but it drawed a massive amount of power now though the 8350 is very much what AMD wanted Bulldozer to be. and the 8350 is a massive improvement over 8150.
Although not enough to call it a intel "competitor" due to the power draw but still it was nearly HALF what the 8150 used to draw
8350 is about a i5-3570k and sandy bridge isn't far behind. 30-40% slower? Really? It's only because of people like you people buy Intel parts 100% of all the time

30% =50% slower IPC clock for clock yes.. and that is fact go read up more and try again.

8350 IPC is weaker then Denab and Thuban... And roughly Equal to a Core 2 Quad. " 2008"

Miss information is what ruined this forum and gets on my nerves.

People buy Intel because they understand benchmarks and understand the numbers.
