You can still use the ihs but you need to replace the paste with a liquid metal one for best results (25c drops), and then use regular tims over the ihs.

You should just use CLU/CLP on the IHS aswell for even better results.

I'd much rather not...except on the case of my crappy chip. You know why wink.gif hush...I like to see my batch number there.

From what I understand, you do not want to do that. I forget why though but if the Official Delidded Club says it's best to use normal paste then it's probably best to follow that rule.

Can you use normal paste for the die? Will i see any temp drop until CLP comes?

I have used CLP for a long time on the IHS, don't really see why you wouldn't want to use it as you have voided your warranty anyway if you have delidded so no point in using any other paste.
But I did clean it off succesffully from one CPU without losing the serial number or anything on it if you are worried about warranty but you shouldn't be if you are posting in a delidding thread.

Yes for sure. Expect 5-10C temps down. The best is CLP on the die,CLP on the back of the ihs and lap the ihs. On my 3770k i have seen like 25 C difference or more.

No, nothing to do with warranty, I can't remember exactly why they didn't use it or why they said they didn't. I have terrible memory, I might even be mistaken. It might have even been not to use it with certain coolers ... I don't know.

I will find it again just so it's not just something stupid, I don't want people taking my word for something if it's just a random noob or because I had no facts to support it. I will research it soon and correct my statement or do whatever I have to do. xD
