Yeah it isn't exactly a good idea to use it with aluminium heatsinks, that would be the only reason I guess.

Yep HDT coolers tend to have exposed aluminum parts, so it's not a good idea then...And it will leave a nasty stain in your heatsink's base be it nickel plated copper or not. If you wanna resell that heatsink you're gonna have a hard time, same as with the cpu should you need an upgrade/sidegrade.
