ATI 7950: Waterblock Help

Hi Guys

I'm looking to get a 7950 and a waterblock but all the waterblocks say for reference design, how do you identify what's a reference design? If the fan and heat sink are changed does that mean the waterblock won't fit or do they still keep the same mount points?

Cheers

Heya,

An easy way to tell a reference from a non-reference is by looking at the bottom of the card's pcb on the PCI-E connector for reference design cards you will see 'AMD' while on non-reference you'll usually see something like a brand name.

I've added a pic below.. if it works! You should be able to see the AMD symbol there biggrin.gif

So does that mean that any card with a non reference cooler is not going to take reference only water block?

www.coolingconfigurator.com

you can check here which models have full cover waterblock support. Sapphire hd 7950 boost with model no 11196-16-20G uses a AMD reference PCB design. you can see the AMD name and logo with PCB no 109-C38137-00 above the PCI-E connector. amazon allows to zoom and see.

"We have completed internal testing of our newest EK-FC7950 water block, built specificaly for the AMD Radeon HD 7950 graphics cards based of AMD 109-C38137-00 PCB. Once again we have managed to manufacture the highest performance (both hydraulic and thermal wise) water cooling product."
