Video Card Sagging

Thread Starter
I just recently installed an Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo II on my GTX 570. Now it seems the card is sagging some from the weight of the cooler. Here are a few pictures showing what I'm talking about. I apologize for some of the pictures, my camera sucks.

Should I be worried about this?

PCB bowing is pretty normal, especially with a big honkin' aftermarket cooler like that - you don't need to worry - they're quite resilient actually.
What a lot of card manufacturers do now is implement support braces and backplates - it's more for aesthetics than anything though.

This is normal. The PCB's are designed to handle some sagging, and my VTX3D HD7950 does this too. But if this bugs you, just add some string to the PCB, preventing the sagging.

grab some fishing line and attach it to the card and top of the case to pull it up if you want, it will be more or less invisible.

Yea I knew about the fishing line thing, there is a hole where the old cooler used to screw on that would be perfect for it. But if the way it is now isn't hurting anything I was just going to leave it alone.

It shouldn't worry you unless something is too close below it.

Some scythe ninja wire should do the trick?

I just used a piece of black thread looped several times to hold my GTX580 w/ Accelero III Xtreme. It was sagging by probably 3/4" on the back end (and the PCB was permanently warped by ~1/4") and by fastening it with thread it actually bent back. It's holding it by the back corner screw hole.

Edit: Just noticed you have the same case as me, and a similar heatsink shape; no wonder your build looked so familiar. I used the case mesh of the 2nd top 120mm fan location to hold the card up.

Did you attach the other end of the thread to the top of the case? I could actually zip-tie the PCI-E power connectors to the big ATX motherboard power connector and it would bring it back up but I'm not sure if that would be putting too much stress on the connectors.

Edited my original post because I noticed you have the same case. Yes I ran the thread to the mesh of one of the top 120mm fan locations; whichever one resulted in the least horizontal tension. I ran the thread around 5 times or so because I was a bit paranoid about the weight on a single strand in the heat of the case.
