1500ish build help/advice

Hey all,

I want to build my own pc and would like some advice. I currently have a laptop with a 6750m, 2.2 ghz i7, and 8 gigs of 1333 ram. I want to be able to do gaming, or more specifically, I want to be able to play starcraft 2 (and the Heart of the Swarm expansion) at full settings with no lag while still running a browser etc in the background. My laptop runs medium settings well, but for online play high and extreme graphics occasionally cause issues (this might be more of a cooling issue because the game specs are much lower). I play a few other games like Skyrim and Total War: shogun2. I also do some 3D CAD modelling, use some other computational physics programs, and some programming as well. And I have the bad habit of loading a crap ton of tabs in my browser so I'll probably also need 16 gigs of ram.

If possible I would like to be able to have 2 decent monitors included in the setup (1080p on at least one if possible). I have a mouse, keyboard, and speakers, but want the overall price to include everything else (monitors, fans, cpu cooling if necessary, etc). Cost isn't set in stone, but probably not more than 1800 at the most.

I've never done any overclocking, but will probably set that up at some point.

I also have run into a couple threads saying to wait until the AMD 8000, nVidia 700, and Haskell series come out. Is it worth it to wait? I was thinking not, but since I already have my laptop I'm not desperate for it immediately (other than being super psyched to build my first pc).

I mostly just need suggestions for a starting point, I'm more than happy to do some more hw if someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

If you keep waiting for the latest stuff you'll never build a PC, LOL.

For your stated requirements I'd look into the Intel i7-3770K CPU, a Z77 chipset mobo, a 670 vidcard, and at least 16GB memory.
I prefer ASUS mobos, EVGA vidcards, and G.Skill memory.
You'll need a 650w or higher PSU, I prefer Corsair or Antec.

Yea, right now I am looking at the i7 3770k and 7950 gpu. Mostly for cost although I'm still at about 2 grand which is more than I'd like to spend. I've heard good things about the 3570k. Is it going to have enough juice for what I want? Also how will the 7950 and 7870 OC'd compare to the 670? I've heard starcraft isn't too demanding on the gpu side.

Also anyone have a recommendation for monitors? I'm looking at the Samsung S24B350HL 23.6" atm.

mobo?
