The Phanteks PH-TC14PE is the best air cooler. Pair it with a few Noctua NF A14 fans, and you have a great way to hit 4.8gHz + safely.

Swiftech H220 is the best for cheap. If you have a lot more money create a custom water cooling loop.

I don't justify an air cooler by being the best for lowest temps. If one is another 2 -5 degrees hotter, I will still go for the quietest.

Long as the temps aren't breaking my cpu's nuts, then why care?

Because I already have a NOCTUA SE1366 NH-U12P, it will be used on my next build. Other and that I would go for a smaller - less weight air cooler.
It's not like the D14 @stock is the quietest either though smile.gif

Briddle is right, the combo of the Phanteks 14PE plus 2x Noctua A15 fans is definately one of the best, together with my Archon SBE + 2x Silent Wings 2 combo lol thumb.gif

my NOCTUA SE1366 NH-U12P is so quite, but I only used 1 fan cos 2 was hardly worth it when I compared temps biggrin.gif

But will look at the Phanteks 14PE review as a matter of interest thumb.gif
post #40 of 46
Phanteks 14PE beats the Noctua NH-D14 by 2 degrees and yet I cannot find one site that gives the noise factor rolleyes.gif

You can have the best cooler in the world but if it sounds like a steam train going past - jogon!

send me to a site that test noise for both coolers thumb.gif
