Best AMD CPU for Gaming.

Hello

Im Stuck between FX 8350 or AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition 3.2GHz. I thought the FX8350 would be faster because its 4Ghz but the Phenom is more expensive and people say phenom is more suited to gaming. Sorry if this sounds like a noob question but I am very new to AMD CPU's. And whats the opteon CPU? is that more for gaming or servers?

Thank you

Edit: I found this, guess im going with FX 8350, no idea why its cheaper though

zambezi FX series wasn't so great for gaming compared to overclocked x6.
But Vishera FX-6300, FX-8320 and FX-8350 are all better in gaming than
Phenom II based cpus.

FX-6300 at 4.7GHz is a hair faster than x6 at 4.0GHz
FX-8350 at stock 4.0GHz should be about the same as an overclocked x6 at 4.0GHz

That is on newer games. Older games might favor the thuban. Single threaded.
But Vishera FX series is great improvement over zambezi FX. They support new
instruction sets.

Opteron are server series. Not recommended for gaming. They are for lower power high usage
like server farms. Not desktop users.

Do you know for sure if your current motherboard with work with the FX-8350?
(what is the make and model and revision of your motherboard?)
Have you already ordered the FX-8350?

RE: price of the PHii vs the fx 8350... its likely because there are a lot of am2, am2+ and am3 MBs that will work with the PHiix6 and not the fx8350.

likely that sort of thing will push up the price/value of the slightly less capable PHii.
