670 PE has an amazing cooler, overclocks very well and wont coil whine. As a 7970 owner i know all too well about coil whine.

Tigerdirect has it for 383

that's before you have a frefrence card, those cards are great if you are going to overclock them and water cool them. If you are not going to water cool them it's always better to go nonrefrence , something from msi or saphire will be just fine.
for what you are going to pay for a 670 u migh as well get a killer 7950 .

Yup, as the owner of 670 PE, I agree with this guy.

7970 from Powercolor screwed me up big time a month ago. Got my replacement card as MSI 670 PE and I only have good things to say about this card. It coil whines a bit on Ice Storm test of 3dmark but 7970 also did and the noise was much bigger. I justified my purchase thinking most card would coil whine on Ice Storm test lol

My only grief with this card was that NVIDIA game bundle was terrible. Not MSI's fault.

I have read the whole topic, every post in here. Just don't understand this guy, at all.
In the same amount of money, he is trying to convince the buyer to get the worse product. Less VRAM, less performance, no add-on bundled games, less warranty period and possibly worse warranty service.
Shut up, dude. I'm tired redface.gif

There's really no need to be rude. You may as well have not responded at all.

Edit: The way I made my decision is that the 670 PE had no issues beating the stock 7970s when overclocked. I've noticed a ton of people say "oh just get any regular 7970 and you'll be fine." But then I read that almost all of the new boards that come out for the 7970 are voltage locked and you can pretty much kiss OC'ing goodbye." Now if I wanted to pony up another $60 bucks and maybe have a chance at overclocking - but at the risk of extremely high temps - I could have gone for a midrange 7970.

I'm not really concerned about the VRAM at this point, I only game on one monitor.

Edited: Specified type of 670 (PE)
