Gigabyte WF3 Core clock above 1100 results in poor 3dmark11 scores

Thread Starter
As the title says, I just received my Gigabyte WF3 7950 (GV-R795WF3-3GD). Stock on this card is 900/1250 at 1.087v. I was able to get the card up to 1100/1625 at 1.175 and got a decent score in 3dmark11 I think (P9783, http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6176561). The problem is as soon as I raised my Core clock up to 1150 and volts up as well, my 3dmark11 score bombed (P9331, http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6176603). My question is, has anyone else had a similar experience?. Should I try pushing the clocks further if it is a slump, or is their something I am overlooking?. My ASIC is 64.3% on this card.

Thanks guys.

we have the same card but mine has a lower asic and i think that equates to more volts to oc. you luck out looking at your voltage. the thing, though, you need to keep it cool as you go higher in clocks. what was your fan setting?

Stock, didn't adjust it. Temps were in the low-mid 60's. You think maybe it is throttling?.

If you're using catalyst control center to oc, stop. Use msi afterburner and check for any drops in gpu usage.

Negative. I am using Sapphire Trixx, as it allows me to take the card to 1.3v.

yes, our vrms do not have any heatsink. use hwinfo64 to check their temps. keep them (all) below 80C if possible. vrms with the stock cooler are normally warmer than the gpu core. crank the fan to 100% when benching. make a profile when using it for 7/24 oc like gaming.

edit:

if you ever want to expand your loop this is what you need . . .

you'll never have to check your temps again:thumb:

Awesome!. Thanks for the info!. I didn't look at the card much so I didn't realize that. I was actually thinking about going for the Swiftech Komodo HD7900 since it lists this card as compatible. Add it into my H220. http://www.swiftech.com/KOMODO-HD7900.aspx

I just wanted to test clocks out and make sure it would be worth it first.

A strange question is your card the unlocked voltage one or the new locked one?

3D Mark 11

this was @ 1250/1650 @1275 VDDC so your scores are very low!
