Is your PCI-E x16 lane set to normal in the BIOS?

Sometimes you can set it to extreme or whatever your specific mobo calls it.

There's no such option in my BIOS.

Sorry took so long to reply. Guessing this still is not solved?

Can you post some pictures of your BIOS?

I've since sent it back for a refund anyhow. I think it's the card as I don't have the issue with my HD6870. I also had a faulty card originally so I think it's just bad product quality from XFX.

Now if I get the same issue from another model then I'll start looking at my system further.

Yeah, XFX 7970 DD and 7950 are really bad cards. The 7970's die out really quick and every forum is littered with XFX issues. Must have QC issues if its that bad. Also has a terrible loud cooler. The 7950 doesn't really have QC issues, but the cooler is MUCH MUCH worse. XFX are cheap, which is why they offer lifetime warranty (Which is a scam anyways because most cards aren't that great for gaming past the standard 3 year warranty for most manufacturers.)

I have to disagree with this, they are not that cheap compared to other rivals, and they usually have pretty decent coolers in my experience. They are a bit loud, granted, but then I have an NH-D14 in my rig so quietness is not really on my priority list anyway.

I have had over 15 XFX cards and would never really consider another manufacturer until I see prrof for myself of these fabled issues with quality.

I've had five (2 x HD5770's, 1 x HD6870, and 2 x R7950's) and have had a HD5770 die within a few months and had to return both 7950's, one which died within 12 hours and another within a couple of days due to the current fault.

That says a lot concerning quality to me. At least my HD6870 is still going, for now.

And currently, here, they're the cheapest brand for the R7950 brand new. I won't be buying anymore products from them again though.

Funny how you say that, my XFX 7950 DD is the most silent component running in my system.

I never said anything about the cooling. In regards to that I don't know about most silent but they're not that loud (except on startup, they sound like they're going to take off, lol).

Still, it won't convince me to buy another one any time soon.
