ATI losing market share willy-nilly

Oh Dear...Not good :

Quote:
ATI HAS lost market share in all major graphics chip market segments since its takeover by AMD, Jon Peddie Research reckons.
The ex-Canadian firm’s share of the PC graphics market share dropped from 28 per cent in Q2 of this year to 23 percent in Q3. Rivals Nvidia, Via and SIS all gained share during the three-month period, while graphics leader Intel remained king of the hill.

Worse for ATI was its performance in the mobile segment where its share fell to 47 percent in Q3, compared with 63 percent in Q2. Nvidia profited, taking a 53 percent share in the market, up from 37 percent, according to Peddie.

Hmm, I wonder how this will turn out. They'll probably come out with some stuff for DX10 that will restore their market share.

I compeatly Do not believe that, because it says ATi fell to 47 percent of the mobile, and nVidia rose to 53 percent. That would make 100 percent market share between the two.

Are they saying Intel doesn't even make mobile graphics?

Even so Intel Mobile graphics is Rare to see these days. However I would say ATI is taking a slight beating from Nvidia because of DX10.

Actually most of the centrino based laptops for sale at the store I work at have integrated intel gma 950's in them as well as a few higher end ones have an nvidia card in them. Its rare to see an Ati card in an intel laptop now a days and intel last time I looked owns about 60% of the laptop market.

Intel Moible graphics are far from rare, pretty much every single entry level laptop has them.

TheInquirer.net just makes up 60% of it's numbers and fudges the other 41% to make Microsoft look bad.

Intel doesn't make graphics specifically for mobile applications.
