The G80 has nothing to do with market share. A) It's an enthusiast only card and - hate to break it to you - but we have absolutely no sway over the economics of the industry. B) It's too new. Even if it's the number one selling card, the effect of that (due in part to OEM's and retail stores selling off old hardware) will not be felt for about a quarter
What I find is that people are willing to buy something even if current software doesn't support its new features...
Take a look at EVERY 64-bit processor, and look at everyone who runs 32-bit windows.
Take a look at everyone buying 7 and 8 series cards from nVidia and X19 series from ATI- Is it unnecessary? More than likely, for today's applications
. But for the games and apps of tomorrow, these are the up and coming hardware that will run them.
