[Build Log] Code Red v2

Thread Starter
So my motherboard has died in my computer today, so my planned upgrade for this summer got moved up. this will be a short log of me fixing/upgrading my old rig. Plans are to put in a Core i5 3570k and an asrock extreme6 z77 motherboard into.it to replace the current amd setup.

I psn on reusing all the parts I have, also included in this build is a new western digital 1TB HDD. so far I have the computer torn apart to be cleaned. The top panel of the case was removed to be painted due to excessive scratches on it.
Tomorrows plans are to get a solid clean on the case and paint the top. Pics will be added tomorrow night hopefully.

[UPDATE 3/18/13]: So I received my motherboard and CPU today. Did not realize the motherboard did not have an IDE port on it, so I had to order a new dvd drive. On top of that, I ordered new tubing, and a fan controller for my radiator fans. I am planning on finishing the build this friday night.

[UPDATE 3/24/12]: I received all of my parts on thursday night, and After completely assembling the pc, I find out the fan controller I ordered was DOA. Two of the solders were bad and broke(cant solder them back as the gold on the pcb was broke off with the solder as well.) I'm looking into an RMA now.

Also, definitely could use some help overclocking my i5. My previous expierences with overclocking was an core 2 duo e6750, and a phenom 2 x4 925. Both of which was with me doing very little changed besides adjusting the fsb. This i5, and the eufi are a lot different than what i am used to. I will post pictures later today.

PICTURES:

This happened when pulling my waterblock off from the cpu. The processor decided to come with it. :/ I guess i either pulled too hard, or it was on there for too long. I assume the processor is bad too?

All the parts pulled out of the case. Thats the bad motherboard.

Finally, the case with the top removed for painting. I forgot to grab a picture of the top after it was freshly painted. I did wipe it down/spray it out after this picture was taken.

Tomorrow night I plan on sanding painting/ clear coating the case. Sunday will be the final day of the build hopefully. biggrin.gif

Anyone have any tips for overlocking an i5? I haven't been on the blue team since I had my e6750 about 6 years ago.

Okay, I don't think it is missing a pin, but I did not check too closely, as I was upgrading anyways.
