I would really try to get those sony bookshelfs I mentioned earlier or spend more and get the suggested pioneer speakers.

Is there a big reason you are against used or ebay? Polk has manufacture refurbished speakers on ebay for much cheaper than online retailers.

Also, I would take the risk on those Micca MB42 they look great and have great reviews. Company could be lowering the price to get their name out there. I havent ever heard of them before.

.

I was looking at getting these but a few people who have heard both the dayton b652 and those sony speakers say that the daytons sound better while still being cheaper. The pioneer speakers are much more expensive and I don't think the extra cash would be worth it for their needs. I purchased the older version (bs-21) of those speakers for $50 but they aren't too impressive.

I value a warranty.

I might do that.

those micca ones might be worth a shot

I have a number of polk bookshelf speakers (monitor 30, T15 (similar to the previously mentioned R15) and RTi4)

I am using the T15's with my pc due to there small~ish size and front porting they work best with my desk set up. My T15s where on sale at BB for $49.99 but it seems that BB only puts them on sale like this around Xmas time

I am very fond of my Monitor 30 speakers as well but they are discontinued now and are replaced with the Monitor 35B (which has a uglier (IMHO) grill and costs more seems to be around $140~ at newegg most of the time (I got my monitor 30's from newegg for $69.99 on sale)

I use the RTi4's in our HT setup ...I don't like them for my audio setup as I think they are bright ... I like them with the HT setup fine.. but meh otherwise.

I might do that.

The manufactured refurbish from Polk has the warranty in place, so you are good to go with that.

I owned the dayton b652 and they could very well be worth it for your setup. I tried to use them for my pc and was not as impressed as I was with Polk R15 and monitor 30. I now have the Monitor 30's as rears in my media room. I use the R15 which are comparable to the T15.

I know that Polk has the R150 which is the cheapest bookshelf right now.

I would really suggest you try those Micca speakers because you can return them to amazon if you dont like them. The best would be to order both the Micca and Dayton and do side by side comparison and then send the ones you dont like back.

I sent the Daytons back to amazon and they only charged me $9 for return shipping. I figured that was worth it.

I bought both my Monitor 30's and R15 off ebay new in box and send my warranty cards into Polk. I try not to buy used, but new from ebay to still have the warranty.

good luck!

I am a big fan of polk because you get a lot for your money. I have listened to many different brands and models, but for the price I keep coming back to Polk.

For anyone interested: http://www.frys.com/ads/audio-video-television-cameras-portable-car-electronics#AdNavi

Fry's is selling the Pioneer BS22 bookshelf speakers for $77 a pair. Way cheaper than everyone else right now. It is in store only, but I think best buy might price match. I'm trying to pick up a pair today.
