[Android Police] Google Has Begun Purging Ad-Blocking Apps From The Play Store - Page 9

Honestly, from a security standpoint, I strongly support blocking of all advertising. Yes, it is unfortunate that the developers are losing money because of it, or websites like this one not getting their ad revenue, but until you can guarentee me that I will not get malware from your advertising then sorry, not gonna happen.

Think this is a non-issue? Go look up Blackhole Exploit Kit... One of the most prevalent exploits being used right now... They have two attack methods: Links in emails (block links and pictures, until you trust that source) and advertising. I have complete control over which emails I open up. I do not have complete control over the source that a website will pull down advertising. When websites like Yahoo and Aol have been known to infect people because of their advertising, nowhere is safe on the internet... So I will be blocking advertising for the immediate future because of this thank you very much.

Just FYI, if you get hit by something like Blackhole Exploit Kit, you will most likely be infected with either a botnet or a rootkit, one will eat your internet connection and the other is almost impossible to completely remove even with a system wipe.

I dont really use any apps on my phone that have advertising so I never tried to remove them, but it would be nice to remove advertising from my phone's browser, just as I do with my PC Browser.

I pay for my internet connection, No-one else, I pay for it, I pay for the data these Ads use, I have to pay to remove the infection, I get to watch my device bog down or the website take forever to load because it's waiting for ad data.

Until ad data is free and the page loads before the ads and the ads don't bog down whatever device i'm using and make it stop being annoying as buggery to find the real download link, I don't care.

If someone knows enough to download an app to block ads, then they probably know how to acquire software not provided by the Play Store.
