Gamespot should be the one bugged about it.

Well, considering what contracts Nvidia actually picked up in lieu of consoles, they are being a bit snarky.

I wouldn't say the title is accurate but, in the same token, it does reflect their tone.

The part I find interesting is that Gamespot has insider knowledge about what Nvidia picked up instead of the console game and yet, they still published the article WITH that title...

Trying to stir the pot a bit? I think so...Thus my pot meet kettle, kettle meet cauldron, cauldron meet pot; comment a while back.

Consider Nvidia's current stock price; they find that the risk of re-entering themselves into the console business as a GPU producer outweighs that of what Sony was offering to pay them. They want to avoid becoming another AMD, whose stock prices are currently dipped at a stable, but very low, $2.62; and at their current stock price of $12.59, a big loss would make them just that; another AMD.

As an armchair CEO, I wonder if it would have been worth a low profit in order to roadblock AMD from spreading its brand with the PS4

But then Quadcomm and ARM would've gladly fill in the spot that Nividia was fighting hard for due to the resource re-allocation to the consoles.

No it would not. As has been stated, the gpu of the xbox 360 was from ATI but unless you took the time to research that, you'd never know.

So while the sales will bring in much needed profit, it won't serve to spread the brand.

That would be lame. The Gamecube had an ATI badge on it, though.

Show me proof of where it helped spread the brand then because ATI market share in 2006 kept dropping.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/graphics/display/20060731234259.html

And after those initial news threads, what happened then? Nothing.

Did the 360 have a "powered by ATI logo" on it or come up on the screen during boot? No. Which meant the average user had no idea what "ATI" even was.
