And it's great that Android gives you that flexibility, so why bash something that doesn't fit your needs if it works perfectly fine for someone else?

OCN Android users - fragmentation is not an issue also Apple is stupid.

you do know that there's fragmentation on iOS as well right? Fragmentation can be broken down in so many different ways (screen size/resolution being one). Fragmentation is a problem but its also one that Android has done a better job of dealing with in the last 2 years. Instead of trying to standardize everything, Google has worked to lessen the impact of fragmentation by making a more modular OS and supplying developers with tools to streamline the process of developing apps for different devices.

Fragmentation is no longer the huge deal it used to be.

That's a great question for Schiller. If his job is to throw rocks, which it is, he'll lose in a second if things got serious. He's bound to have a boulder flying at his head on that day.

not really bashing it, just kind of poking fun because I really can't stand not being able to change my user layout to be just right.
I'm a little OCD and having icons on my screen bothers me. It messed up the backgrounds I use and clutters things.

I'm really scatter brained so having icons all over really hurt my head. I use adwex for its quick launch bar so I have the few things I use a lot all the time, and put a few small apps I use daily into one of the other pages. It's those sort of things that i really like about android. that and widgets.

and I don't think fragmentation is as much of an issue as people make it out to be.
A lot of it stems from people holding onto their older android devices because they still work perfectly fine for their needs, despite carriers no longer supporting them.

It's a great question for every marketing executive. I can find numerous examples of figureheads in the android market bashing apple for anything from screen size to the app store. Don't pretend Schiller is stirring **** anymore than anyone else in the industry.

Samsung were audacious enough to launch a marketing campaign that actually attacked the users of Apple products... Not Apple but the users of their products. If you're saying Schiller is throwing rocks then Samsung are throwing meteors.

I think you need to do a little more research on fragmentation and how much it's actually holding Android back first.

I have. The point is whether or not the claim of fragmentation is relevant to the topic at hand. He thinks the S4 runs an outdated OS simply because the numbering system Android is going with hasn't progressed from 4 up to 5. The funny part is that Android has gotten more optimizations and features from 4 to 4.2, which was just released in October, and has made bigger leaps than any one of their major releases, perhaps save for the notification drawer (COUGH totally not stolen from Android).

How exactly am I pretending that? The whole moral of the post you quoted was that Android actually has room to throw stones, especially if we're going to start bashing about an "outdated OS."

Fragmentation is a consequence of options. Obviously it's not a probably for Apple since iPhone users have no options. Ummm white or black?

The fandroids are probably worse than the Apple fanbois now. It's no wonder every other thread on XDA turns into an argument over something totally trivial(zomg you criticized my phone OS!!1). It looks like OCN is getting its share of them, too. Admit it: fragmentation runs wild on android, many flagships get a few updates and then are up S creek, Google lets the manufacturers crap all over the OS, and suggesting "oh just get a new phone when you want an upgrade DUH!" is just as laughable as the stuff Apple fanbois say.
