Which means the GX2 takes up two expansion slots rather that one slot taken up by the GT which means a wasted PCI slot on most motherboards.

Here's a good comparison of 3 popular 7950 GT cards (Asus, eVGA, Sparkle):

I wouldnt call it wasted as you get SLi out of one PCIE slot and most cards in this range take up two slots as it is.

Eh what I meant was most motherboards have regular a PCI slot next to the PCI-E slot. You put a dual slot video card in the PCI-E slot it covers up the regular PCI slot. Me personally I'd rather buy, for example, 2 7950 GT cards for the 2 PCI-E slots rather than putting one GX2 in there just so I have those PCI slots available for other PCI cards.

How many PCI cards do you need? Even if you had sound, a tv tuner and maybe a RAID card, thats three of the 3-6 found on most boards. Usually the pci-e 16x is right next to a 4x or 1x pci-e slot, which very, very few people use.

A lot of motherboards have 2\\3 PCI slots, not 6, plus (2) PCIe x1, and (2) PCIe x16, so if you mean about 6 total nvm...

If I would put (2) Double-Width SLI cards in my M2N32-SLI Deluxe I'd only have 1 PCI slot open... which would probably go to Dedicated sound... good thing my motherboard has build in WIFI

I was about to get a EVGA 7950GT KO for my new PC, but I think I'm going to wait for the 2nd generation GeForce 8 cards, they don't have all the glitches that the 8800's do...
