at what temps do 7950's throttle?

I have an MSI TFIII 7950 and a Sapphire Dual-x 7950 and I am going to be replacing the TIM with CLU to try to cool them down and extend my OC past 1150/600. At what temps do these cards throttle?

Good Question... 98C.. Possibly higher. I know Kepler's max temp is 102C

I think it is around 95C that they throttle and turn off at 105C. I wouldn't really want it to get close to those temperatures though.

My Matrix throttled during Cyrsis 2 at 76-78C when overclocked to 1250mhz and i think it was at 1.32v. I bumped up the voltage to 1.335 and set load line to 100% i think the throttling stopped.

But too hot for my liking...settling at 1215mhz 1.23v LLC 75% 65C max.

The matrix throttled because VRM temps were probably out of control and not because of your core temp.

Maybe..i bumped up the VRM voltage by a bit..but i didnt really overclock the memory too much...1775mhz...as far as i could tell HWMonitor 64 did not display VRM temps like it did with my old XFX 7970

Im not even sure ive ever seen VRM temps on the Matrix to be honest lol

How do you change LLC on a graphics card???
Not sure you can on most video cards...i think the Matrix is one of the few that can, but you pay a premium

Ohh ok that makes sense. Well I just applied CLU to both of my cards and the MSI dropped 8c and the Sapphire dropped 10c so I'm pretty happy with those results thumb.gif
