I only have space for 1 more drive, and I want it to be fast. The WD VR 1TB is the fastest mechanical drive I can buy right now. A second SSD doesn't make sense because I already have the 840pro and I wont be reconfiguring for a RAID setup, and I am ok sacrificing some speed for the space that a 1TB VR would give me.

Also, I wouldn't install things to the green drive, since it's slow as hell. It's just for media/programs that aren't games.

This thread wasn't supposed to be "is a VR better than an SSD?", it's "should I buy it now, or wait for it to drop more?" ....will it drop more is something to be discussed. I'd love a system full of SSDs, but space/$ is a concern.

At the moment I have room for 1 3.5'' drive if I squeeze it into unused space, or a 2.5'' drive. I would consider voiding the warranty and squeezing the VR in the 2.5'' slot...

remember seeing the price they were selling for? I'll probably just wait, since the Newegg sale is only like $15 off of what you can find at other online stores....just wanted to get opinions since it ends today.

Also, thanks for actually reading my concerns and my rig, and assuming I was gaming, kudos!

I think you better buy now if it's cheap, I payed a little over $100 a while back for the 600 GB version (sale) and I think the price has gone up a bit. Yeah $180 on newegg for the 600GB...it went up a lot lol.

I think that's a sister company and if GoHDD had them I bet it would be in the same range....
I'm thinking prices have gone up..

nice find BTW... smile.gif
