360 vs. PS3 Graphics Comparison - Page 5

noww. compare 1st gen xbox games to 1st gen ps3 games.. see who the winner is?

Its really not a fair comparison considering the that xbox was out longer giving developers a head start.

i like the ps3 because it comes with blu ray built in... a blu ray player = 1000, ps3 = 600. don't you have to upgrade the 360 to play hddvd?
seems to me a bit harsh to say the PS3 sucks compared to the 360. cmon, the 360's been out a year. games for both will get better but it's possible the PS3 has more potential. wait for halo 3 and and maybe killzone but i havent heard much about that in a while, those two (should killzone be a FPS) will really showcase the consoles' potential. look at how amazing Killzone for the ps2 was graphics wise cuz sony spent a bomb on it, if they pour as much money in to the next one you can bet it will be spectacular too. we know M$ wont be pinching pennies for the Halo3 either.

But to play the flipside here for a second, how much research should an average consumer have to do before purchasing a product? Should they make sure to find out the read and write speeds of those discs?

See what I mean? It's a slippery slope. Consumers just want to buy it and have it work. Most don't want to know every facet of something.
Good point, but I still don't like the way the name looks

This is true, but doesn't this bring us back to they should research it anyway?

Actually, off the average consumer part, let's talk about us geeks! I actually research quite a lot before I purchase anything. Whether that be reading everything on the packaging, researching the technology behind it, or simply reading reviews on various websites, I still research and learn everything I can before I make a purchase. Why? Because I am poor, and usually I can only get new stuff on holidays

It's a pretty subjective thing to ask. While I feel that people should research before buying something, that simply isn't going to happen in this day and age. Most people just want it "because."

And yes, I wish the geek mentality would be more prevalent but until everything becomes more mainstream, we will just have to teach others the way.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS! i personally will be getting a PS3 if anything. i like the xbox360, its a killer system. For ME, however, I like the fact that the PS3 will be able to play with my PSP and has built in wifi (60gig version) and plays blu-ray (yes it could very well fail as a format). The PS3 seems to be marketed more as an ENTERTAINMENT device than as a stricktly gaming console. Why has no one mentioned LINUX? Does no one see how many different uses this could potentially have? Im not saying its better than xbox, because you cant make that generalization without knowing that different people want different things. People who want to complain about pricing need to not complain about something they dont feel they can justify buying. How many things in the world will we never be able to afford? Does that make them bad? And since when has price always indicated a better product? Perhaps you should focus your whining on lack of standardization. Why are we reliving VHS and betamax? Certainly you can blame sony again, but they arent the only ones responsible. Why is it that HDMI has been out forever but why is there a lack of products that use it? Why isnt it required that every display have HDCP at this point? I am so far off topic i dont know how to get back....

Wow...Tony Hawks looked bad on the PS3.

Well, we've known for a while that the XBox360 basically has a crippled DX10 GPU with 48 unified shaders, while the RSX is a beefed up 7800GT. Do the math.
