I need a suggestion as to better cool my pc. - Page 3

The crash is simple a black screen with, "EERRAAGGHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO"coming from my speakers. I apologize for the lame onomatopoeia but that's the only way to describe it. There is no reboot and I have to press the reset button to reboot manually. Now, as I've said, the only pattern I've found was high temperatures on my processor. Also, some crashes I have deemed due to a driver error as when I was playing LA Noire, it would crash at exactly the same place every single time. All the other times...I have no explanation as sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But the only thing I can see is my processor getting hot. Now, it's been a while since I researched it but I believe the 8150 can only handle around 60C and getting up into the upper 50C is awful close to 60C.

Record the EERRAAGGHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO with something and post an audio clip of it here. I want to hear it, you'd be surprised what diagnosis can be made from a sound sometimes.

AMD 8150 Tcase limit is 61C.. Max Tj is 90C. Big range there. Tcase is the actual case temp measured at the outside edge of the integrated heat spreader. The Tj is the core temperature at the insulator juction I think. Your motherboard sensor usually reports an approximation of Tcase, something like Core Temp or HWiNFO 64 will show you the internal Core temps to compare to Tj.

The sound is simply a loud, annoying buzz from my speakers. It's not the same everytime. Nonetheless, I'll try and remember to record it next time.

Do you know what AIDA64 reports in? It shows 33C on my cpu while each individual core is at 28C.

Alright, so I've found someone who has the exact same problem:

https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/system-crash-amd-fx-8150-8-c-hd-7970-3gb-d5.130182/

Mind you, mine doesn't happen that often, but it explains the crash. Now, the crashes are more frequent since it's super hot in Texas right now and I can't stand for that. I've already been setback 6 hours on my work because of it.

Anyways, I need help trying to do a better air setup for my CM Storm Trooper case. I have 4 side fans, one in the back, a H100 on top. Due to the case design, I can only have my cpu fans on the inside of the case which means it's intake? I understand the concept of push/pull but I don't know a proper way to do it.

Also, I've managed my cables as best as I can, all my fans are going, and I'm idling at 41C. Once I get up to 50C is where the crashes will happen. Probably a little closer to 60C but I can't diagnose it since there's no time for it to have a crash log. I HAVE to do something about this. and I don't care if I have to spend money to solve the problem.

Ideas? Better fans for the H100?

It is probably your motherboard. The Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 can not handle the 8XXX cpu and overheats. Badly. Put a fan directly on the VRM heat sink, which is between the cpu and the I/O panel.

Lameeeeee I'd never heard of that. I've actually kind of thought it might be a problem with the mobo at one point. I will be going with Asus or Asrock next time, that's for sure.

Could you recommend me somewhere to how I can add a fan there? I'm thinking about swapping my H100 fans with Gentle Typhoons and if I could use them on the VRM, I'd like to do so.

Seriously, go to that thread I linked to. There are pictures of how others have put fans on their heat sinks. One guy bolted his in, others just use zip ties. 80mm is the most popular size fan. Some use the fan on the stock AMD heat sink too.
