Question On the 8800's

Thread Starter
Hey Guys, I got my New PSU last week, all installed and good. I am planning ordering my 8800GTX this Fri and I had a last question. There are the two I am looking at so far..

Those are the 2, So what do you guys suggest I go with company wise, and another question If you guys look at the evga its the only one that says "(Effective)" next to the cards memory clock, what does that mean?, and why dont the rest have it. Thanks.

Honestly I prefer BFG's hardware It just felt a little more solid build than eVGA, but you can't beat eVGA's warranty and customer service.

effective means that the DDR memory runs at 900mhz it will be effectively at a 1800mhz because it does two instructions per clock. All 8800's are the same because Nvidia doesnt allow manufacturers to overclock. BFG is lying to you sort of or newegg made a mistake because the 8800GTX memory does not run at 1800mhz the samsung memory runs at 900mhz

I'm going to be ordering one my self sometime this month, and I would say that the EVGA with that cool solid black finish just rocks. I like the added heatsink on the back of the card and there CS is great. I'm going Evga for both cards you should also...IMO

http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4216&s=16 this is the ACS3 edition the one in the newegg link is not you may have to get it from Evga not sure.

I do EVGA tech support so if you have problem, let me know and I will try to fast track you to a solution. Some EVGA benefits:

Advanced RMA: allows cross-shipping to reduce your down time
Lifetime Warranty: just register within 30 days to qualify. You are allowed to user aftermarketing cooling as long as you do not damage anything. Software overclocking IS allowed unlike most companies. However, voltmods and unofficial BIOS updates will void warranty.
Step-Up Program: trade in your card within 90 days of purchase for a better model. Just pay the price difference of MSRP (plus shipping and taxes).
24-Hour Tech Support: try calling Asus tech support ever.
Free Stuff: currently EVGA has two contests going... one is for a Zero-G airplane ride and the other is for a new case, games, shirts. EVGA also has the famous Golden Ribbon Hunt yearly. Thousands of dollars are free PCs, cards, trips, games, PSU, ect are given away. I believe EVGA has 5-7 contests a year.
Once again...
