The plastic mobo cover paint job is sufficiently dry so that I can start working on the sound activated lighting install. I marked the spots where I'll need to cut a pass-through and rough fit the wire to determine clearances and where I'll need to go higher or lower on the edges to avoid interfering with cabling connections. Ran a rough fit for the length of wire needed (plus some extra for a buffer) and cut the length.

I'm going to take some test strips of wire and figure out if hot glue or super glue is the better approach for attaching the EL wire to the TUF plastic. The only hard parts are the 90 degree angles and I want to ensure the EL wire doesn't pull off but also try to minimize the bonds showing.

Thanks for the compliment but I'm a rank amateur and this is my first mod build. I've built a lot of computers but throwing a bunch of parts in a case doesn't take much. Insert Tab A into slot B ya know? This is the first time I'm doing anything custom. This is the first time I'm doing watercooling. I'm learning a LOT from this forum and as I go. Besides, have you SEEN some of the work some of the builders here have done? Mindblowing. I'm just hoping that the final product gets close to what I have in my head.

I haven't tallied up the amount I've spent so far (kinda afraid to. Heh) but I've seen some great budget builds on here. It's amazing what can be done with little or no money.

The time is pretty easy. I do a bit here and there when I have a free moment after the kids are in bed and I have plenty of tools on hand from the RC car hobby. I've got several computers so it's not like I'm in a race to get it done so I can get back online. Plus taking it slow let's me think things through carefully and do it right. Even then I still run into interesting issues (like with my vidcard backplate problem).

Yea, I just got my first Gaming rig last week. I was going to build one myself but it would of taken me 6 months to buy all the parts. So I found a pretty good deal on Craigslist. I got the rig in my sig for $500 with a 24' HD monitor, Razer mouse and a keyboard. Now I have a starting point I can upgrade from. But even with this rig that is about 1-2 years behind the times, I can play BioShock Infinite on Very High/Ultra settings.

It's a nice case you have, a lot of potential. I've always liked Antecs, though mostly for their silent series. I spend enough time around racks and racks of servers that having a quiet rig is important for me. Watercooling is taking it one step further and reducing the noise from high-speed fans. I'm enjoying the process so far.

Yea, I like the case a lot. I have diabolical plans for in down the road. My first purchase will be next week. I am going to upgrade the mobile. Problem is I only have 100$ so my options are limited. I can probably go as high as 130. As long as my wife doesn't get to angry.

Raidmax PSU? I hope you replace that before your house burns down.

Took off the Z77 heatsink to get masked and ready for painting. Applied a base coat and when that dried laid down the cover coats.

In between work with the heatsink I put the EL Wire lighting on to motherboard. It's a ***** to make straight lines with it but I got fairly close.

And here's what it looks like when on:

Now I'm going to go hunt easter eggs and paint the PCI covers.

The lighting surrounding the motherboard looks very good.
Excellent build mate, the lighting on the MB cover really pops against the white sterile look of the case.

I don't like to advocate using the FrozenQ Helix reservoir, but it would complement this build perfectly, especially with that lighting, although partially I think it might clash a little with such a clean look.

You said you were in s3curity, would be interesting to see some kind of lock/safe or espionage related motifs in the case, maybe a 5.25 bay compartment with a lock on it.

Maybe even a side panel mod with a stenciled wire fence on acrylic.

Keep up the good work, definitely want to see the end result of this one.
